A man from Maha Sarakham set fire to three houses belonging to the headman. Firefighters and rescue personnel from Nakhueak district swiftly responded to the scene, accompanied by eight fire trucks. After approximately two hours, they successfully contained the fire within a limited area. Picture: Siam Rath The main house that was engulfed in flames belonged to Mr. Adisak Thabuangsi, the sub-district headman of Samrong. At the time of the incident, no one was inside the house. However, witnesses observed a 35-year-old man named Mr. Nawutthikrai entering the house with a bottle of oil. Shortly after Mr. Nawutthikrai exited the house, a fire erupted on the second floor, rapidly spreading due to the wooden structure and ultimately affecting the neighboring houses, reported Siam Rath. Picture: Siam Rath In total, two houses, including the kitchen of Mr. Nawutthikrai's house located behind the headman's residence, were completely destroyed by the fire. Following the incident, the police from Nakhueak Police Station apprehended Mr. Nawutthikrai and conducted a search for illegal substances, but none were found. During questioning, he admitted to pouring oil on the mattresses stacked on the second floor of the headman's house and setting them ablaze. Picture: Siam Rath The motive behind this act of revenge is believed to be rooted in the frequent conflicts between Mr. Nawutthikrai and the headman, who is known for creating disturbances and causing noise during nighttime. Mr. Nawutthikrai had only been released from prison less than five months ago, where he was serving time for a murder charge. The authorities will collect primary evidence to proceed with the arson case in accordance with the law. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-05-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
