A worried family have offered a reward to find and 'detain on sight' a British teenager who went missing in Thailand's 'Sin City' Pattaya over the weekend.

Ryan White, 17, from Gateshead, arrived in the capital Bangkok on May 12, but has since lost contact with relatives.

His family believe he is now staying in the notorious party city of Pattaya some 90 miles (145km) away. The city has been dubbed the 'sex capital' of the world and a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah thanks to its round-the-clock sex industry.

Fearing for the teenager's safety, his family have taken to social media asking friends to help find him - offering 10,000 THB (around £234) as a reward.

They have also pleaded with the 17-year-old runaway to come home, telling him: 'Nothing you could do or say would ever change how loved you are.'

I have immediately begun a tour of all the bars in Soi 6 but suspect, if successful, I will not make a profit.

Not enough information,is he here alone?Blame the parents,he will be eaten

alive in Pattaya and i am sure he would be easy to spot.

Some one who is 17 can be very responsible but can also completely lose it.

What are the parents doing letting a 17 yr old travel to Thailand alone?

In the UK after age 16 your parents have no say in what you do.

I am looking forward to how this plays out. My guess is:

There is an obvious danger of somebody actually listening to the parents and promptly detaining or kidnapping or abducting the kid.

If they take him straight to the police station, then presumably the police will do nothing to those who make the illegal detention.

The police themselves will take on their paternal role and encourage him to head home.

Probably does, except the other parents are happy to be rid of their kid.

How is this guy financing his stay ?  There in lies in danger, if illegal activity.  10k reward, PoPo should be finding him soon.

Off topic ... in USA, parents have no right to control their kids at any age.  If kids disagree, they sue for emancipation, since  being mentally abused.

Reads like he was in Bangers with relo's and decided he needed to head to Patts to get his end wet without telling them.

It is of course entirely possible that he had met some Thai lovely online and is now under her spell somewhere in the back and beyond.

Fine lookin' lad. If he's on the run then let's hope he keeps runnin' and loses a chin or two!

"detained on sight"

Where is this legal?  No indication he has broken any law.

Once his money runs out he will return very clean and smelling nice.

At the age of 17 he's not even allowed in a bar. What else is "fun" in Pattaya?

Foreigners are rarely (never?) ID'd in bars, especially if they look old enough.

Let's see. 17 year old, no parents to tell him what to do. Weighing up, Pattaya or Gateshead? 14 degrees or 32 Degrees?

Reminds me of the video Swedish nightclub? Or Newcastle nightclub?

This headline is becoming a monthly posting, someone going missing ????

It always turns out the missing person has been shacked up with a pretty.

Once the money runs out they reappear.

If you're overly concerned I'd take a few photos and head down to soi 6, good place to start

Offering only 10000 baht reward doesn't sound like they are that worried.
