Typical response from a very poor ‘leader’ with an agenda. Get your nose out of China’s ass,ets and you might be considered grown up enough to have them. At the moment, it is too risky that you’d pass

  • Not wanting to belittling Thai pilots here but isn't the F-35 too much of a sophisticated machine to handle while costing billions and Thailand not having any enemies to speak of?

Thailand has always walked a diplomatic tight rope balancing historical alliances with Chinese influence.  That balancing act has become more difficult with Chinese expansionism and Thailand reliance

Overtures to China, Myanmar, and Russia surely don't help.

They will sell you an elastic band to hold your chin up ????

They don't need F35s anymore than they need submarines.

The Thai Air Force had been keen on acquiring the advanced fifth-generation stealth fighter jets to bolster its defense capabilities and maintain a competitive edge in the region.

Just stick red plates on the current F-5's.

Believe me, the neighbors won't know the difference.

"Why is that so? If they don't sell, we won't buy. It's a normal matter of communication for trade. If a country is selling, we contact them; if they're not selling, we won't buy. So, what else can we do?"

They are selling, just not to Thailand.

The reason the USA did not allow this sale is because:

"Lockheed Martin, is renowned for its cutting-edge technology, superior performance, and versatility in air combat. Its advanced features include stealth capabilities, advanced sensors, and state-of-the-art avionics systems,"

Exactly ! The USA wants to keep their classified stuff, classified and NOT allow it to be copied by China, which probably would have happened?????

LET US think for a moment which country is a threat to Thailand, that is right NONE, So why do you need them ???????????

Brings up a question, does the Vatican Air Force have the F-35A?

No. They have just a few archangels and a vigilante Ángels with swords

Maybe they’re thinking of trying to get a last big commission TIT

As is the case with the subs, it is severe over reach, on the part of the greedy, nearly useless armed forces of Thailand. They are vampires, sucking the life blood out of the nation, and their power and budgets need to be curtailed. In a big way.

There is no way a man with the very limited mind of Cha Cha, could ever begin to grasp or understand why the US would turn down Thailand. After all, within his own tiny world view, he lives within the center of the known universe.

My understanding is the F35 in any of its versions would confer little but shiny toy bragging rights for Thailand. It is expensive to maintain and has more strategic value than pure combat ability. F16s would likely be a better fit.

Buy Russian, Swedish, Chinese, etc airplane instead....they might be worse but you can buy many more for the same funds.

I think the number of F35 capable nations is nine, most of which have contributed to the development of the system.

Thailand evidently does not have the avionics infrastructure to use or maintain them, besides being friendly with an avowed competitor if not outright enemy of the US.

They want to delay the copying...The Chinese will get it sooner or later but every year later is better

They are not selling for their NATO partner Turkey.

good point. Thai's love status symbols. of no practical need here.

Be like India. Never give a damn to any Western Countries. They will come to you crawling because they need you to sell their products and for their need for human resources. But alas, the Western countries don't depend on minuscule Thailand's population and severe lack of highly technical resources unlike India.

Ooh. What products and ('highly technical') resources are these? Bit ironic when the Indian government cannot feed its own people, accepting billions of US, UK and others tax payers' money year in, year out, yet claim to be doing very well. How did covid work out for India with vaccines and oxygen? Believe the West generously helped out And what happens when the Chinese decide to take more Indian land... India will look to friends in the West, that's what. Stop talking tat.

He's such a brainiac, lol

Yes, makes you wonder why they want it doesn't it?

Operating costs @ $30k an hour… but it does come with engine … sometimes…

I don't really follow military aviation; does the Thai Air Force have a history of crashes?

More than other countries?  Not trying to be argumentative just curious.

Just take a look at the VTOL planes they bought to use on their "aircraft carrier" I hear it's a good tourist attraction and they sell nice hats and drink glasses.

India has developed its own military industrial complex to research, design and manufacture its own innovative advanced military products. Recently India aims to triple defense exports of $5 billion.

This is lacking in Thailand that seems to want to buy its way into advanced military products, perhaps because there is better opportunity for corruption than keeping procurements "in house," ie., self-development that may require more accountability for legislative funding. Especially if an anti-military opposition coalition controls the House.

And by buying its way into military imports, Thailand loses initiative for self-military development.

Thais dont need F35  keep things simple for training, maintenance, radars, weapons , logistics , integration  and costs  while still being very capable ... so buy another couple of dozen Gripens like Brazil

There's a reason for that too.

After seeing what has happened to Russian tanks and aircraft in Ukraine, they are probably regretting their choice.

They're keeping a balance. They get weapons and oil using Indian currency at a discounted rate and as I said Western countries can do nothing because they need access to Indian market.
