Olaf Scholz says he hopes Joe Biden is ‘re-elected’ as he is better than Donald Trump

Joe Biden is “better” than Donald Trump, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday before adding that he hoped the current US President would be re-elected for a second time.

The centre-Left leader accused Mr Trump of being divisive and said it would be bad for Germany and the US if the Republican was to return to the White House.

Recent polls show Joe Biden has an edge over potential Republican challengers Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis as the November 2024 vote draws closer.

According to the polls he is more popular than his rivals so by definition he is uniting the country. Mind you, he was working off a low base for inclusivity so it wasn't hard to do. Strange that Biden should be ahead of DeSantis or Trump so early. A drover's dog could obviously beat either. Appealing to angry, old, white christians only was hardly uniting the country.

In some polls Trump is leading and in others Biden is leading. They are actually more or less at the same level when polls are aggregated.

Having said that I don't see Scholz's statement as particularly relevant as he certainly won't influence any American voter.

He wasn't trying to influence American voters. He was merely expressing an opinion that Biden would be better than Trump. Clearly it is his prerogative to do so.

The majority of Americans agree with him. Sholz also knows Trump backs Putin against Ukraine and Biden has the opposite view.

 

Sholz is supplying weapons to Ukraine so why would he prefer Trump? Some choices are easy.

I beg to differ mr trump was knifing the European people in the guts whilst making kissie kissie to Putin and n Korea obviously the chancellor prefers Biden and as things have played out with Putin’s criminal war of conquest and extermination.Biden is a champion for democracy and the Europeans know he has their back salva Ukraine ????????
