webfact Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Photo by The Pattaya News. In Pattaya, officials have recently instructed all educational institutions under their authority to remove the mandate for students to wear scout and girl scout uniforms. This decision is in line with similar actions taken by other institutions across the country. The announcement was made through the ‘Pattaya Direct Line’ Facebook account following a statement by the Mayor of Pattaya, to ease the financial burden that uniform costs place on parents. Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet stated that he will soon release an official document detailing the new guidelines for schools, The Pattaya News reported. He said that students who cannot afford scout uniforms will be allowed to wear their regular student uniforms, accompanied by a badge, scarf, or hat. The mayor believes that this decision will help reduce household expenses, while ensuring that the scouting programme remains in line with the curriculum, providing comprehensive training for young learners. by Top Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/pattaya/pattaya-schools-drop-scout-uniform-mandate-to-ease-financial-strain -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-05-29 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. JayBird Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Why not just issue or subsidize the cost to everyone? 1 1

cracker1 Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 As some will be wearing the Scout uniform and some will be only wearing a small part of it, this action will probably now divide the school children into the "rich" and the "poor" and will do nothing for morale. 1

That is a major problem when abandoning uniforms.....also what happens when kids where football T-shirts or worse gang related clothing? A cheap, easy to clean, simple uniform is the only sensible answer 1
