Changing from visa exempt to ED visa

Featured Replies

Folks, do you know if it is possible to change status from visa exempt to ED visa WITHIN THAILAND? It will be a university program, not a language school.

Or, do I have to exit Thailand and apply for the student visa at an embassy/consulate?

Thanks.

It's possible to change at your local immigration office, but timing might be an issue. Best to check with your university, as they will have to provide you with the documents required.

Talk to the university. Assuming they have a number of foreign students, they will have experience with this issue, and be able to advise you on the process which certainly is possible.
