Popular Post webfact Posted June 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 1, 2023 In a recent incident that has caused quite a stir, a young Lithuanian female tourist found herself in a distressing situation during her visit to Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi, reported Naew Na. The incident, which involved an assault on the female tourist, led to her prompt report to the local authorities, resulting in the immediate termination of the responsible employee. According to the news that has been circulating, it was reported that an employee of a government agency in the Srisawat district of Kanchanaburi province had committed a sexual assault against the foreign tourist, leading to her filing a complaint with the Srisawat Police Station on May 31st. Earlier today, on June 1st, a news reporter visited the Srisawat Police Station to gather more information about the incident and meet with Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Kittipan Senabut and Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Pakornkit Chinteset. Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Pakornkit Chinteset disclosed that the Kanchanaburi Tourist Police assisted the Lithuanian tourist in lodging her complaint on June 1st at 12:14 PM. According to her statement, the assault took place on May 31st around 4:40 PM when she was physically attacked by a man using force. The victim provided video evidence and photographs clearly showing the harm she had suffered. In response to the complaint, the tourist police quickly arranged for an interpreter to aid in communication and accompanied the victim to the crime scene. They also coordinated with Mr. Pravat Phuangthong, the head of Erawan National Park, to gather additional information about the suspect. Mr. Pravat Phuangthong, the employer of the suspect at Erawan National Park, acknowledged the charges when he appeared before the investigating officers. Subsequently, a thorough search of the suspect's accommodation led to the discovery of crucial evidence, including the clothing he wore during the incident (a gray T-shirt, a black T-shirt, and cargo pants), as well as the black sandals and motorcycle used that day. These items were seized as evidence, and formal charges of assault with the intent to harm others were filed against the suspect. During the investigation, the suspect, identified as Mr. Pramote, a 24-year-old temporary employee at Erawan National Park in the Tha Kradan sub-district of the Srisawat district, admitted to his wrongdoing. He emphasized that his actions were not representative of the Thai population as a whole and should be understood as a reflection of his own character. In a gesture of remorse, he humbly bowed to express his sincerity while extending apologies to the victim and the Thai people. The Lithuanian tourist had visited Kanchanaburi province in search of relaxation and had rented a motorcycle from a local shop. She embarked on a journey to explore the waterfalls in the Srisawat district but found the Erawan Waterfall closed. It was during this time that she coincidentally encountered Mr. Pramote. He attempted to engage her in conversation using a mobile phone as a translation device and deceitfully offered a shortcut to the closed waterfall. Trusting him, the tourist followed his lead. However, Mr. Pramote led her to a secluded area near a garbage pit, where the assault took place. Despite the ordeal, the brave victim resisted and managed to escape, seeking help from local residents in the area. Following her statement to the police, the victim handed over the crucial video footage she had captured, which served as vital evidence in apprehending the suspect. Thanks to the swift cooperation between the police and local community leaders, the suspect's identity was promptly confirmed, revealing that he was an employee of a government agency in the area. This led to his immediate arrest and subsequent investigation. Erawan National Park responded swiftly by terminating his employment, further underscoring their commitment to visitor safety. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists. The authorities remain fully committed to maintaining a secure environment for all visitors, and any incidents compromising their safety will be met with swift and resolute action. Thailand's tourism industry upholds high standards and will continue to protect its reputation as a welcoming and safe destination for travelers from around the world. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-06-02 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post Songlaw Posted June 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2023 Funny, I don’t recall “the Thai People” being assaulted alongside her receiving mention in her report. The whack-a-mole apparently had his hands full. Luckily, the all-encompassing bow is universally recognized as providing bulletproof evidence of sincere contrition. All’s well that ends well, l guess. 3
Popular Post barefootbangkok Posted June 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2023 I'm sure that if a foreigner did that to a Thai girl, they'd be locked up for a long long time. 3 1 1 1 3
Popular Post wensiensheng Posted June 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2023 Personally, I don’t think that the PR spin put in the article in favour of tourism in Thailand is a particularly good example of investigative journalism. If you told me TAT itself wrote the article, I would believe you. Having visited Lithuania and received nothing but kindness and hospitality from the locals, I hope the victim recovers from the trauma she obviously suffered. 3 4 1
ignore it Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Well. In spite of what it says, it was well written. 2

Popular Post Frankie baby Posted June 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2023 She's a biggish lady, he was lucky she didn't go all out & assaulted him, then she would have been the one doing the bowing & extending apologies to the rest of us farangs. Id love a follow up on his punishment - a month in the monastery is about all for attempted rape. 2 1 2
SS1 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Good advertisement for the TAT. So now they don't only rape your wallet with the farang rip of fees, but they'll also rape you. Hope she is OK. 1

Gecko123 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Brave woman. That guy is bigger and brawnier than the average Thai guy. That ruse to get her to an isolated spot wasn't something he came up with on the spur of the moment. Sounds like he had a plan in mind, just waiting for an opportunity to put it into action. Wonder if he's done this before and victims just haven't come forward. 2
1duckyboy Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 If the Lithuanian tourist isn't present for the perp's trial, is he set free? If so, I sense the wheels of justice will grind slowly. 1
brianthainess Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 How did he expect to overpower and rape a lady of that size, at least he failed. 1

BTB1977 Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 He attacked a woman twice his weight. Drugs or alcohol involved for sure.
barefootbangkok Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Thais rarely if ever go to jail for assaulting or even killing a foreigner. Twenty years here and I've only heard of one case where a Thai served a long sentence for killing someone (2 Brits).

Clearly a Thai with an unusually educated and erudite grasp of his own language.
