Capital markets become victim to Thailand’s political uncertainty, prompting foreign investors to dump Thai markets

The continued uncertainty about the formation of the new government has pushed foreign investors to continue to sell down equities and bonds in Thailand.

 

Foreign investors, a cornerstone for stability in the highly liquid and retail market driven Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), have been selling down Thai equities since the preliminary results of the elections were announced in the wee hours of May 15th 2023.

 

Thailand held its general elections on May 14th that has left the country with a hung parliament with the ultra-left wing – Move Forward party, managing to get 151 seats in the 500 seat lower house of the parliament while center-left – Pheu Thai party, managed to get 141 seats.

We had to act, the country was in peril, economy teetering on the edge. All the uncertainty was making everyone uncertain, but were they uncertain? maybe. Doesn't matter, think too much.

Results again of a failing army driven Government with delays in announcing official election results, silly rules about media shares, 1 or 2 persons who can hostage the whole country, appointed senators, which don't like changes, which takes the forming of a new Government takes months and months and in the meantime the old school stays in caretakerpower. No progression is always going backwarths

Did you read it? they are afraid of ultra-left wing....as every business should be. No business has a problem with a right wing army government. The left wing is stealing the money.

Sure does.....But the left wing not only steal for themself, they also hand out money for the poor which is even worse economically.

Really? I sometimes feel there are people who view liberalism as communistic. Communism would imply the means of production are owned communally and private property is nonexistent or severely curtailed. 

Communism per se is a political and economic ideology that opposes liberal democracy and capitalism

I haven't seen sign of that yet but feel free to enlighten everyone.
