He's had his time, the future is DeSantis. The US needs fresh, younger blood than the current selection of stumbling, mumbling geriatrics on offer. It is not politically motivated. Nominating Trump is the best chance the democrats have to hold the presidency. Taking him out before he can be nominated is good for the republicans! "Federal prosecutors have obtained an audio recording of a summer 2021 meeting in which former President Donald Trump acknowledges he held onto a classified Pentagon document about a potential attack on Iran, multiple sources told CNN, undercutting his argument that he declassified everything. The recording indicates Trump understood he retained classified material after leaving the White House, according to multiple sources familiar with the investigation. On the recording, Trump’s comments suggest he would like to share the information but he’s aware of limitations on his ability post-presidency to declassify records, two of the sources said." https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/31/politics/trump-tape-classified-document-iran-milley/index.html Besides which, the espionage act, presidential records act etc does not matter if docs are declassified or not. 8

If he had been negotiating and turning the documents over as you say, there would never have been an investigation, and no it was not and is not being done as a political hack job. Look at the evidence. If there was no evidence a grand jury never would have decided there was enough evidence to indict. You really are not looking very clearly at the situation. 7 1
