Sa Kaeo - Local police were alerted by the village headman of Non Mak Mun, about a deranged man firing a gun. Upon receiving the report, officers from Kok Soong Police Station, along with the Provincial Police Bureau of Sa Kaeo Province, hurriedly dispatched to a single house in the village where the suspect had barricaded himself.

The man, identified as Mr. Sutthipong, a 33-year-old military reservist (อส.ทพ.นย.) in Chanburi, had allegedly fired two rounds from a 9mm handgun, reported Siam Rath.

After an almost hour-long negotiation involving family members and the police, Sutthipong surrendered himself. He was taken into custody for further questioning at the Kok Soong Police Station.

The suspect's sister-in-law, Ms. Chutikan, 38, explained that the incident might have arisen from Sutthipong's stress combined with alcohol consumption.

He had an argument with his wife, who, out of fear, fled the house. When Chutikan went to talk to Sutthipong, he brandished his gun and fired two shots, causing her to escape immediately.

Bunlerth Rueanghiran, the commander of the Provincial Police Bureau's SWAT team (หน่วยปฏิบัติการชุดสวาท) in Sa Kaeo, stated that upon arrival, they found the suspect still locked inside his house.

Despite unsuccessful initial negotiations, the suspect eventually surrendered after almost an hour of persuasion from close neighbors.

Deputy Inspector Nathaphon Chanasupakarn of Kok Soong Police Station, who led the investigation, said that Sutthipong confessed to the shooting.

He claimed to have done it out of frustration following an argument with his wife. He fired his gun to vent his anger as he felt alone, living with his wife in a region where he had no relatives.

Originally from Yasothon, Sutthipong was working as a military reservist in Chanburi. He was charged with firing a weapon in public and possession of a weapon in public without a valid reason, both to be prosecuted according to the law.

I wonder if upon being arrested for firing his gun his frustration and anger has abated?
