webfact Posted June 16, 2023 Share Posted June 16, 2023 On June 16th, the police of Sa Kaeo province in Thailand detained a Japanese man for overstaying his visa by 547 days. According to reports, Pol. Col. Rung Thongmon, chief of Sa Kaeo Provincial Police, led the arrest operation, reported 77kaoded. The arrested man, 60-year-old Mr. Noboru Kobayashi, a Japanese national, was apprehended in the vicinity of Muang Kaeo market, Sa Kaeo subdistrict, Muang Sa Kaeo district, Sa Kaeo province. Picture: 77kaoded Prior to the arrest, a tip-off had led the police to an unidentified foreigner. An ensuing investigation found that the accused had entered Thailand on November 17th, 2021, on a non-immigrant visa type B, valid until December 16th, 2021. He had later sought and received an extension until January 30th, 2022. However, it was found that Mr. Kobayashi had overstayed in the Kingdom for 547 days beyond the permitted duration. He is charged with entering and staying in the kingdom after the expiration of his visa, in violation of Section 81 of the Thai Immigration Act of 1979. Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the inquiry officer of Muang Sa Kaeo police station for legal proceedings.
