I'm very pleased to read the headline. Prawit is the picture of youth and vigor. We can also count on his high levels of accountability and has always been a beacon for anti-corruption.

 

I was afraid Move Forward had plans for change. What a relief the stewards of Thailand will save us from this fate.

no they'll be fired....and some industry will be moved to Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia....

Government mandated salaries above the value of the work leads to unemployment. If there is full employment the salaries increase on themself...for many years in China they increased 10% every year. Of course government would need to reduce cheap labor from Myanmar and Cambodia so there is a shortage in Thailand.

If you want that the poor people can buy more than reduce the taxes that hit the poor people most. And stop the mismanagement for the electric (but here government has done something for the poor.....in a stupid way but they did something).

Low cost wages is only one part of the situation.

High quality, high productiity, low absenteeism, also in the mix.

 

In the past several examples of manufacturers moving to Thailand for low wage cost, but soon departed because of low quality, low productiity, high  absenteeism.

 

Got to get the whole picture / all elements right. It can be done and it brings benefits to all.

20% of MPs in each party can not be. There are parties with only one seat in parliament. That would mean a total veto if that one MP is not present.

 

The 20% is probably a minimum requirement and refers to those present in order to have a quorum at all.

I'm not sure he's that bright. He made it pretty obvious that he was in charge when his sister was PM, rather than keeping a low profile. He must have known that wasn't in line with Thai law and was an obvious excuse for the military. They took over and were similarly lacking in covering up their real intentions.

He announced he would be back this month, on his birthday, July 26 or around there.

Jim posted confidently many times that Tony would be a free man in Thailand on that day but Jim's gone quiet lately. 

That could be because he's away in Paris, cleaning the gravestone of the great man on the anniversary of his death yesterday. 

How Tony could come home a free man? 

A pardon from the top perhaps, with an amnesty passed in Parliament by PT, Bhumjaithai, plus some other MPs persuaded with some pieces of silver.

The trouble is PT haven't got the coveted House Speaker's post to set Parliamentary business and the watch collector can't  seem to stay awake long enough to be  PM.

The class disparity exist today as it never has.....especially throughout the "democratic" and "developed" West, where the deeply fixated ruling oligarchs have always had their way. 

Appears to me that too many are slumbering to understand what is and what isn't - seeing cultural comparatives as competition.

Applying the logic (though it's rather hard) that only from having hit 'ROCK BOTTOM' can a real upward ascent towards some kind of lasting, positive development occur in a society, then I wonder if the senators & all the MPs should not just forget about the PM vote altogether and put the sleepy toad in the PM's seat, without any delay. 

 

Makes sense: get the toad in there, experience the inevitable consequences, then things genuinely turn towards the light. Hopefully in my lifetime. Right now: total eclipse.

What does that mean.

 

Seems to me that rampant manic capitalism, strongly encouraged in many countries is a main driver of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer situation* and which increases 'the gap', which is part of why I believe in a mixed system:

 

- Selected socialist policies: health care, education etc.

 

- Controlled capitalism. One e.g. China clamped down on Jack Ma and his massively wealthy companies because they were getting too rich. China wants to see much more spread of the wealth.

*Globalization was touted as 'the great leveler.'  In reality it made the gap bigger.
