Sneaking through airport security with an expired Thai DL?

Want to go to Lipe and not by train from Pattaya/BKK. Every time I've used my expired Thai DL at banks and AIS/True it's gone unnoticed. You guys think domestic flights the same, or do they really look at the date?

 

PS: ALL of my current IDs are tied up at the embassy

I would'nt chance it, have'nt you got any other alternatives ? Reminds me of a mate of mine when he was driving me around in Thailand and we got pulled over at a police checkpoint. The officer requested his Thai DL so my mate gave it to him and he said ''but its expired'', my mate said yes but at least i've got one lol

Just use your passport unless....you've over stayed or got something to hide.

Go for it, you wont get into trouble, the worst is that they let you on your flight. your choice.

Thinking again and in view of what my mate said to the police does it really matter if its run out, its being able to establish your identity that matters and the DL does that whether its run out or not.

Just turn on the charm or plead for some understanding at check in, it can work. When leaving the UK to take up residency permanently in Thailand to be with my newly acquired wifey i was 12kg over my baggage allowance and that was duly pointed out to me by the attractive check in lady. I replied to her in my best chat up way ''can you please please just overlook this matter as i'm moving to Thailand permanently to be with my new wife''

 

She just smiled and waved me through lol

Happened to me not long ago, I didn't realise car driving license had expired, they wouldn't accept it, so showed them my bike which was still valid.

Suvarnabhumi airport flying domestic.

Use my DL here, passport copy on the phone.The police will accept that.

The most recent news in Thailand that carrying a copy of your passport is no longer acceptable... I too use my Thailand driver's license whenever possible to avoid the hassle... however that is also getting harder and harder to use... good luck to you in not being detained.

There is none, he is just making it up. The law is to carry a form of official ID. Even the cops are split on what is acceptable.

So, do you need to carry a passport in Thailand? Yes, there is a requirement for all tourists to carry their passports in Thailand at all times. Thai authorities might request to show a passport during raids on nightclubs, at roadblocks, and on other occasions. It is possible to get around Thailand without carrying a passport, but there is a risk of 2000 Baht fine for not having a passport with you.
