Move Forward supporters march to send a message to senators

Led by political activist Sombat Boonngamanong, protesters gathered at Asoke junction in Bangkok at about 5pm today (Saturday) before marching to Ratchaprasong intersection for a rally.

 

Before the march, Sombat told the media that the protest is intended to send a message to the senators, after they ignored the mandate the people gave the Move Forward in the May 14th general election.

 

During the march, the protesters shouted the names of Move Forward party and its leader, Pita Limjaroenrat. Some blew horns, supplied by Sombat who says he bought them at Khlong Thom market.

quite laughable that they think the 250 senators give a hoot about their 'messages'

Why aren't 7 million people shutting down Bangkok? Where is the anger? Where is the indignation? Why such staggering passivity? 

 

When will the Thai people draw a line in the sand? What has to be done to them before they say NO!

The color groups between 2006 and 2011 also started with just a handful of protesters.

Of course it is no doubt true enough that these marchers & protesters ARE dedicated MFP supporters, as the title of the post declares, but I would hope that ANY Thai, of any political stripe, who sees the fundamental 'wrongness' of having these appointed-senate goons holding their nation back in this awful - frankly, tragic - way......would step up to the plate and make this call alongside the (usual) brave and resolute few who really care.

Haven't you learn anything from past violent protests that gave the excuse for the police and military to use execessive and lethal force against protesters. Shutting down Bangkok only caused economic hardship for many and shift public support away from the protesters. MFP should continue with peaceful protests but should be a regular feature. They will gain more support and admiration for them as a discipline party and will serve them well in the next election. The current situation is a lost cause for them to have Pita as PM. The next election will be different with the amendments to the constitution.

Many of us sure hope so. Some forward movement is desperately needed. The age of the dinosaurs needs to be put into the past. 

 

Super low quality, bottom of the barrel leaders like Prayuth, Anutin, and Prawit are coming at a huge cost to the nation, it's image, whatever remaining influence it has, tourism, and the economy.

Move Forward Party MP Rukchanok Srinork posted on FB Monday it's more important to remove Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and Gen Prawit Wongsuwan from government than getting Pita Limjaroenrat to become PM. She added she can work as an opposition MP if necessary.

The student-led pro-democracy protest group, United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration (UFTD), has announced a car mob to demonstrate support for the 8-party coalition. The event will take place at noon on August 2 at Asoke Intersection.

 

Their objective is to encourage the coalition to remain united for the upcoming prime minister's voting on August 4. Additionally, they want the coalition to maintain its unity until the junta-appointed Senate's power to vote for a premier ends in May 2024, if necessary.
