Thai Police Arrest Gambling Debtor Fleeing with Gold Jewelry Worth Thousands of Baht

On August 1, 2023, at 8:00 am, an operation led by Pol. Lt. Col. Phong-anan Klai-klung, Deputy Commander of Division 9, and Pol. Lt. Col. Teerachai Dedkad, Chief of Staff of Division 9, along with officers from the Investigation Division and Special Operations Division of Division 9, resulted in the arrest of Mr. Tes, 25, who was fleeing after stealing gold jewelry worth 163,250 Baht from a gold shop at Lotus Bangkhunthian, Rama 2 Road.

 

The incident occurred on July 31, 66, at 10:18 am when Tes entered the shop and asked to try on a gold bracelet worth 5 Baht, valued at approximately 163,250 Baht, reported Siam Rath.

 

 

After donning the item, he swiftly descended the shop's staircase, managing to evade capture. The suspect captured by the security cameras was identified as a 27-year-old man with a slim build and a crew-cut hairstyle. 

 

Following the investigation and CCTV analysis, officers discovered the culprit's identity, Mr. Tes, residing at an unnamed apartment, Room 15, Apartment No. 7/18, Soi Ram Inthra 42, Intersection 8, Nuan Chan district, Bung Kum, Bangkok.

 

 

Tes confessed to the crime, stating that he sold the stolen gold at a shop named Thai Nirand Gold near Wat Phan Thai Nonsi-ng. He earned 134,000 Baht from the sale and used part of the money for online gambling. Additionally, he spent the remaining 64,000 Baht on more gold and confiscated clothing.

 

Tes was arrested and, along with the seized items, handed over to the Investigation Division of Division 9 for further legal action.

'July 31' was mentioned. But, personally, I was disappointed not seeing any pics of a  reenactment, and finger-pointing. A nice styrofoam board showing details of the crime would have been nice too.
