Keono07,

You can book your bags direct to Samui & do immigration here.BUT it depends on which airline you are traveling with, they do not all have that arrangement with BKK air.

Which airline are you using?

You can book your bags through but I think the regulations have changed and you have to do immigration in Bangkok.

Susquosh,

That is news to me.International arrivals & departures still operate from the old terminal at Samui.

Sorry should have been clearer.I think you will find that you now have to clear Immigration at your first port of entry into Thailand. So if you fly via Bangkok then that is where you must complete immigration formalities.Obviously if you fly into Samui from Malaysia,Hong Kong or Singapore then that is where you complete immigration.I picked this up on either the Travel or airport forum a couple of months back and when I flew in from the U.K two weeks ago that is what was happening in practice.

If you only transit in Bangkok, you do immigration here.Say you arrive from the UK & you connect to BKK air, you don't leave the international terminal arrival area, that means you don't go through immigration there. You just go to BKK air transfer desk, get your boarding pass & off you go to departure gate. That means your port of entry is Samui.I just come back last month & did exactly that.

if you get a flight that check your baggage from start point too samui you can do immigration on samui :o

My sister's recent experience confirms it's all to do with if your baggage is checked through to Samui. BA out of Heathrow would only check her bags to BKK even though she was coming on to Samui. Had to clear immigration in BKK, retrieve her bags and check in again at Bangkok Airways. :o

That is correct, this is why you have to check which airlines can do this with BKK air. The only reason a participating airline might refuse is if your transit period is too long or your luggage is way over weight.
