Thai Airways International (THAI) is expected to exit the court sanctioned rehabilitation plan three months ahead of schedule, in the middle of next year, as the airline’s performance has been improving steadily, in line with tourism recovery, according to CEO Chai Eamsiri.

THAI and its subsidiary, Thai Smile Airways, have made money four quarters in a row, with pre-tax profits for the second quarter of this year amounting to 2.3 billion baht, which is an increase of 171% over the same period last year and the largest in 20 years.

The airline will have been run under the rehabilitation plan for about three years by the middle of 2024, to settle its accumulated losses of about 240 billion baht.

Our only choices here in Sydney for a DIRECT flight to Bangkok are THAI and QANTAS.

I fly Business, and THAI is marginally better than QF.  Since flights resumed post-covid you get the feeling that (whilst onboard the THAI flight) that they're 'trying' .  QANTAS customer service is non existent, both on the ground AND in the sky.

I wish Emirates would resume the Sydney -Bangkok route again.....

until they do, I'll continue to fly THAI.   QANTAS is overrated!

I'm not surprised, finding a cheap flight on Thai Airways has become impossible.

Even reasonably priced tickets are a joke! Thankfully there are plenty of alternative airlines!

Horrible airline, food is terrible, and then they "sorry sir bar is closed, we open it again at breakfast", I didn't realize there was a bar, I just fancied a can of beer whilst watching a old action movie on the terrible seatback screen, but no can not. Will fly via the middle east and incur the extra 2 hours and flight change any day of week, Qatar, Emirates, and even Etihad 100x better.

I would rather stop for 3 hours in Singapore with SIA than pay the exorbidant prices Thai Airways want for direct flights!

To be honest, never was

Thai will never be competitive till Hi-sos are made to pay for their tickets.  Ordinary folk can't compete with the politicians using Thai for their personal junkets.
