Social Media
Tory MPs urge Rishi Sunak to get asylum returns deal – as Brussels rejects reports that the EU Commission has blocked an agreement A war of words has erupted following claims that the EU has rejected Rishi Sunak’s plea for a post-Brexit asylum seeker returns deal to ease the small boats crisis. It was claimed that a senior European Commission official told the UK’s national security adviser earlier this year that there was no prospect of such an agreement. But an EU Commission spokesperson rubbished reports on Tuesday as “not correct”. A UK government spokeswoman insisted that No 10 remains “open to working with the EU to take forward negotiations on a UK-EU returns deal”. It sparked a row among Tory MPs, as Brexiteers lashed out at the “immoral” EU for failing to help tackle the Channel crossings, while moderate Tories urged Mr Sunak to forge a returns deal so Britain can work more closely with its nearest neighbours. Return agreements are viewed by some as key to solving the migrant crisis and the PM still hopes to strike a deal with the EU Commission that would allow Britain to return people to European countries where they have previously claimed asylum or have links to. Popular Post JonnyF
The EU would rather see the current crisis continue than to make an agreement with the UK. Disgraceful, immoral behaviour given the risks being taken by the migrants, the drownings, the organized gang activity, the exploitation of vulnerable people etc. Hell hath no fury like a woman the EU scorned. Thank goodness we left. 4 2 1 3 5

It's all they ever talk about in Brussels and the 27 member state capital cities.???? 3 1 1 1

Given that around 80% of asylum applications are granted one can see why the Tories don't want due process. It suits them to have the the knuckle scraping morons on side blaming Jonny Forrinners for the <deleted>e they've had heaped upon them for 13 years . Shelling out millions with no return is normally reserved for their chums. Perhaps what is being requested to be done isn’t what actually needs doing. 1 1

Maybe they made the mistake of believing the french would honour their commitments. Big mistake given their history and the EU's bitter attitude since Brexit. I would have given them nothing. I also would have given them nothing during the Brexit divorce bill negotiations but then I am not a huge fan of the EU as you may know. 9 minutes ago, Chomper Higgot said: Shelling out millions with no return is normally reserved for their chums. France proposed it at least as far back as Nov 28, 2021. And it's a mark of how empty the case you make is that you invoke the future as some kind of evidence. 1 1
Popular Post jak2002003
So basically the UK government is is admitting they can't control immigration, and they want another country to do it for them. When we were in EU the same government said it was the EUs fault for all the immigrants and they told UK was not allowed to stop them. When we left the EU the government assured is that was good as now they could close off the borders and stop immigrants. But they have failed to do this...big style...as there are more now then ever lol. So now they make up excuses again blaming the EU lol. At what point will some people realise that this government is lying to them? 2 1

Maybe, sweetheart, you should try to grasp the fact that x number of immigrants who are making it through to the UK by itself tells us nothing about the efforts being made to slow this emigration.. It's the percentage that are making it through that counts. You got any figures for that? Maybe a totalitarian nation could mine the beaches to slow the exodus. France, not so much.
