Repair solar light.

We have bought almost twenty solar UFO lights over the last two years or so.

All bought from the same company and all working fine except for the last one.

It just does not work so we phoned the company and they just told us "tough luck",no warranty whatsoever.

So we need to get it fixed,it is brand new and has never worked at all.

Is there any one who knows where we can take it or send it to have it fixed?

I tried to have a look at it but it is not so easy to take apart.Suggestions please?

Many of these lights are sealed for life, when they fail it's time for the landfill ????

If it's never worked, probably a loose wire, just need to get inside an have a look.

Yes but like Crossy said,the only way to get inside is with tools of mass distruction!

I have been tinkering with it and some plastic has already broken,time for a hammer i guess.I did find a lose wire but no way to get at it or find out where it belongs.

If you have a hot-air gun you may be able to loosen things, but a hair-dryer won't be hot enough ????

Got it all apart,connected the lose wire with the panel and it lit right up!

Broke some parts taking it apart but i guess we now have all spare parts

for when the others decide to stop working.

It had a row of screws but removing those did not help any.

They used glue to make sure it can not be fixed!

Reason for not working?One wire was too short so they decided to not connect that and the customer be dammed.

Oh well,still a nice day and i learned something again.

No, they use glue to seal it (protect from moisture).  Three years ago we purchased 12 for use as wall lights (plus an extra 4 - "just in case").  So far, (knock on wood...) 1 failure.

 

But....  the vendor told us if there is a problem after warranty (one year), hair dryer and check for damaged wire AND replace the 18650).   The batteries are actually very cheap.
