willyumcr
Does anyone sell fresh artichokes? I remember years back that Macro had for awhile. Just checking....Thanks
3STTW
Villa and Friendship used to sell them pre-pandemic (usually (Oct - Nov) but I haven't seen them since. Even then, they were the size of a tennis ball and about Bht800/kg - definitely B stock. If only we could get the plump French varieties. I miss artichokes a lot!
digbeth
The fresh ones we used to see in supermarkets are barely edible until you peel away most of the outer bits leaving only the small core edible, making the imported cans or jar that looks expensive at first better value 1

If you don't approve of them you can refuse them on delivery.
3STTW
Calm down. My original post indicated that they were quite expensive in TH at Bht800/kg. You then posted a source charging 1250/kg. There ya go. QED. Artichokes are effing expensive in TH. If my post upset you to such an extent, maybe you should engage with the debate rather than blowing off like an old carthorse at every latest post. I had a pizza there with fresh artichoke on it and it was inedible. Instead of peeling the artichoke to get at the tender interior they'd just sliced it up and stuck the whole thing, woody exterior and all, onto the pizza.
