Thai police apprehended a Danish man in Koh Samui, an island in the southern province of Surat Thani yesterday, for his illegal possession of firearms.

Following the strict measures implemented after the shooting at Siam Paragon mall in Bangkok, Thai police yesterday, October 10, conducted an investigation into owners of firearms both legal and illegal across the country and discovered a Danish man in Koh Samui ordering guns online.

Officers from the Immigration Bureau, Tourist Police, Bor Phud Police Station, and Provincial Police Region 8 secured an arrest warrant from the Thaiad Courts and proceeded to raid the foreigner’s residence in Soi Khao Phra in the Koh Samui district.

Officers discovered and confiscated three pistols, one shotgun, and hundreds of bullets in the house. The Danish man admitted to his illegal ownership of the firearms. He claimed that he had a fervour for guns and was keen on building his collection. So, he ordered all the firearms and bullets online. Officers did not disclose whether the online stores were based in Thailand or abroad.

The Danish man may face imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both for possessing a gun without permission according to Section 7 of the Act on Firearms, Ammunition, Explosive, Fireworks, and Imitation Firearm.

Amazing Police work. Hell if they was to really catch everyone with illegal firearms there would be a massive boost to the economy.  Building 10 new prisions.????????????????

I found it very alarming how many Westerners (no pun intended) on Samui opwnly admit to possing firearms - there is a load of British ex-servicemen seem very proud of th fact they either possess or can get hold of firearms - apparently iy's "OK" as they "trained in forearms"???

From one of the linked articles:

The Surat Thani Immigration Chief Colonel Suppakorn Pankosol stated to the Thai press, “We found that these guns and bullets were ordered online from the northeast of Thailand. Mr. Adam used these guns to practice shooting at a shooting range on Samui Island. He also posted on social media that he likes to collect guns. Many of his online posts also seemed to threaten other foreigners. Mr. Adam has fitness businesses and has stayed in Thailand for a long time.”

I suspect 'Mr Adam' may be in for an extended stay in Thailand, but perhaps in less enjoyable surroundings. <deleted>.

If he was taking them to a range, it sounds like these real guns bought on the black market, not modified blank guns, specially the shotgun and it looks like another long gun like an AR style on the far right of the pic, probably a .22.

Ranges are at fault for much of this for not checking permits.  If Mr Adam knew he would have nowhere to shoot this guns, would he have bought them?  He probably realised from hanging out at the range and renting or borrowing guns that they didn't bother to check.

Apparently not a Dane. In the Thai Rath-article the man is Swedish, and his name is also typical Swedish...:whistling:

Swedish name dosen't mean anything. Many criminals from other countries have changed name to a swedish name. Not easy to commit a crime or scam if presenting yourself as Abdullah or Mohammad.

I think because all these tough Swedes are not racist bigots, nor are they vigilantes or murderers.

I would say not. Soldier kills 30 and police officer kill KG children, a 14-year-old THAI teenager. kills 2 tourists and wounds several Thais. But the police arrest a FOREIGNER for illegal gun possession. Plus I was only reading yesterday on FB an advertisement selling guns in Thailand. Didn't say if deactivated or not. The 14-year-old killed using a deactivated weapon that had been reactivated. Blame the FOREIGNER TIME AGAIN.

The accused Farang has weapons without a permit...so, what's your problem? Why are you still in Thailand if you can't accept that as a farang!?

A Businessman that loves too shoot guns???  That's the best he coud come up with!  With tatoos up to his neck and guns galore, I wonder who his clients are. Let me guess Ericcson Telecommunications.

Of course he's a businessman!  He is probably employed in the perfectly respectable business of moving large amounts of methamphetamines and human growth hormones.

Buying guns online is expensive!  They cost 2-3-5x the cost of legal guns so this Swede is obviously a very successful businessman!

Why all these scammers are always full on tattoo's?

Just ban them on entering the country.

great contribution. But as long as they let mugs like you in it is probably best to start an intelligence test at the border before spotting tattoos,.
