Rayong's tourism sector has shown signs of recovery over the past week, especially during the three-day weekend, as tourists flock to Koh Samet and local businesses regain confidence, despite the recent shooting incident in Pattaya, Rayong is bouncing back.

On October 13, 2023, Rayong province saw bustling tourism. Travelers explored Phe Market, a hub in Rayong's coastal area with beaches and Koh Samet island. Tourists indulged in shopping and the seafood. Tour buses ensured a lively market atmosphere, reported Thai Rath.

Shop owners at Nualthip Market, who sell local souvenirs, are feeling positive. Their businesses have started to pick up after a quiet period, and they have faith in Rayong's tourism making a strong comeback in the upcoming months.

Ferry terminals to Koh Samet were also busy, with tourists eagerly buying tickets. Most were Thai, with some Europeans and a few Chinese travelers.

Mr. Yanat Arunwes, the head of the Rayong Island Hopping Ferry Association, recognized the renewed energy in Rayong and expects more tourists as the high season, which begins in late October, draws nearer.

Although the recent incident in Pattaya affected Chinese bookings and resulted in fewer group travelers, there is still optimism about Rayong's tourism for the upcoming year, as long as no major incidents occur.
