Heavy rains led to a tragic accident in Surat Thani province, where a slippery road caused a pickup truck to skid and plummet into a canal, claiming the lives of all four passengers, including a 13-year-old girl.

The incident occurred at 3:00 PM on October 18th, on Highway 401, near a glove factory in the Kanchanadit district. The wet and uneven road surface, likened to a tortoise’s back, became perilous when rain intensified, reported Thai Rath.

The white Isuzu pickup, registered in Chiang Mai, was recovered from the canal, and emergency services worked tirelessly to rescue the victims.

Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead upon arrival at Kanchanadit Hospital, having succumbed to drowning.

As usual, apart from the fact that Thai's never slow down to weather conditions, drive too close and have no risk awareness whatsoever!!!

We drive for 10 mins twice a day, each day to take the dog for a walk and regularly have two or three near-misses each week.....they are frickin' mental.

Coming from Texas, where many try and drive around barriers for low water crossings and either die or end up losing their vehicles. I've never seen so many driving into canals and other waterways. Seems like every week it happens here. In Texas, some think they can drive through moving water, although everyone knows even a big truck can be pushed off the road by moving water a foot deep. Here, its driving off the road into the water.

Yes....then if I get hit it will be in the rear....so their fault for sure.....oh! wait....I'm a farang

the only other alternative is to give the missus a red flag and make her walk in front...works for me.
