Jet Fuel pretty much is diesel - current price  (and of course it fluctuates) is close to 55 Cents USD/Litre. Wish I could buy diesel at that price!

It's not 55 cents it's a 90 cents

It has nothing to do with weight distribution.  It's another opportunity to charge more per seat.

Very intrusive. I think I would start saying NO to the airlines who engage in this policy. See ya!

  • I am all for paying for over a base weight and you Should need to pay for a wider or double seat if you will intrude on nearby seats.  Its obvious that a 50 kg person costs much less fuel than a 120kg

Because of the fat people inside the aeroplane the arodynamics is changing ?
Do a research how many tons of kerosin get released worldwide before every landing and then tell us again that the airlines want to save fuel.

What a load of S*$T. Commercial passenger jets Do Not routinely dump fuel before landing.

Some need to dump fuel in an emergency to reduce the weight to the maximum allowable landing weight, most wide body long range aircraft have fuel dump systems(A380,A350,A330,B787,B777)

Most narrow body, single isle aircraft do not have fuel dump systems

Do some more research

You may not be aware of this, but when you put your luggage on the conveyor belt at the check-in counter it is weighed and the weight is automatically recorded in a database as part of an estimation of the flight's take-off weight.

I don't typically check in luggage, so no it does not get weighed, but either way - we're talking about weighing your luggage vs weighing you...
