Chada’s Son-In-Law Nabbed On Bribery Charges

A SON-IN-LAW OF Deputy Interior Minister Chada Thaiset was yesterday (Oct.24) arrested on charges of demanding and receiving a kickback from a waterwork contractor in Uthai Thani, police said.

 

Verachart Rassamee, the mayor of Talukdu municipality in Taptan district of Uthai Thani where Chada himself is a native, was alleged of conspiring to demand and accept 600,000 baht in payoff cash from the unidentified contractor in exchange for a waterwork construction project in his jurisdiction and another in the capital district of the central province.

 

Verachart’s spouse is known as Altrika Thaiset, a daughter of the deputy interior minister.

How is this news? I’m pretty sure most family members of most ministers  and MP’s have (many) shady deals going on, like extorting companies for kickbacks. How else would they be able to afford their luxury lifestyle?

Chada asks for son-in-law’s resignation

 

 

Deputy Interior Minister Chada Thaised has told his son-in-law, who is charged with extortion and bribery, to resign as mayor of Taluk Do sub-district in Uthai Thani province today (Wednesday).

 

The resignation will mean a vote for a new mayor, Chada said.

 

Yesterday, police and anti-corruption officials arrested Chada’s son-in-law, Veerachart Rassamee, and two other municipal officials, a vice major and the chief engineer of the municipality.

If you google Chada you will find a lot of unsavory cases he has been implicated in in the past, including murder, drug and firearms offences. He has always managed to walk for lack of evidence. One of his sons was killed in a road rage incident when two of his sons allegedly opened fire on another driver who unexpectedly returned fire and killed the son. Chada's parents and his brother were all murdered in gangland style assassinations.
