I did get another Viriyah quote from Rabbit Care, about 250 baht cheaper, coverage 200k THB less at 1M, but battery cover 100% (previous quote is 90% battery cover).

I am going with first quote as I think if you need a new battery, more often than not you’ve written off the car.

But I would be interested in what everyone else thinks?

I went to my local Viriyah office after starting to complete the Rabbit Care online form and stopped when I found their questions too intrusive. I didn’t complete the form and just closed the page down, but they still started calling me.

I paid ฿32k including adding my 27 year old wife as a named driver. Half the staff from the office came out to look my Seal, it was obviously the first they had seen.

A few years ago we asked BMW what the insurance for an iX1 would be and was told it would be ฿50k

Viriyah quote for Seal Performance with 5 named drivers of any age was 30,000 baht for 1.2M baht coverage.

I’m going to go with that I think.

I would wager a a bottle of VSOP that the insurance underwriters will stop shortly to issue 1.2M coverage for a one year old car, with the new car price at 1.2M.

I sat in a Sealion 7 yesterday morning, it has the dashboard of the new Seal when it comes, I like the dashboard a lot.

Salesmen told me the price was reduced to 1.1M for premium and 1.2M for Performance until December 10th, but this doesn't fit with the graphic posted earlier.

Have done the same today. It's a nice Car and feels bigger inside then the Seal plus to step in and sit in the Car is more comfortable. It is a 800V Battery  with 82.5 kwh, so not the bigger one you can get in China or Europe. The price for the Performance AWD is 1.2 M THB, but will go up after the Motorshow to 1.4 M THB and is available sometimes second half of December.

Out of interest I have asked what I would get for my 7 month old Seal Performance. They have made some pictures and copy of the blue Book and send it to a second hand Dealer where they are working with. After 20 minutes waiting I've got a price for my Seal. As response I've just told them if they want to keep me as a customer they should not give me such a answer. Turned around, wished a nice day and left.

we had language difficulties at the showroom yesterday, but I specifically asked if it was 800 V architecture or 400 V and the salesman said 400 V, but I wouldn’t necessary believe that

What was it max DC charging rate?  If it was rated at 150KW it's a 400V system; if around 240KW then it's an 800V system.

Partial quote from Wiki.  And below the quote is a snapshot from the ReverAutomotive Sealion 7 brochure showing the Thai model has 150KW max charging capability.

Just asked my Wife again as she was translating, Sales Person clearly said 800V, but I did not asked for charging speed.

Case in point....... it's too tempting!

The discussion in the comments proves the point.

Today I was getting some free electrons for my Atto (i.e., charging) at a BYD dealership and while charging I went in and looked at a couple of Sealion 7's they had on display.   Really nice looking EV.   Anyway I asked the salesperson if the Sealion had an 800 volt or 400 volt charging system?   The rep didn't know, but went into the office were a couple other sales people were to ask the question and then came back with an the answer of it's a 500 (five hundred) volt system.

A 400V system typically operates in the 300 to 500V range and an 800V system in the 600-900V ballpark.   So, with that 500V answer they were basically saying it's a 400V system.

Today I also sent a LINE message to another dealership that always sends me BYD advertisements and I asked it the Sealion had a 800V or 400V system.  Their answer was 400+.

So, two dealership have said it's a 400V system which matches up with what I see on the internet regarding Sealant models for this part of the world.

The present generation Seal sold in Thailand is 800V platform (shows around 630V) so I seriously doubt that the SL 7 is 400 to 500V. But of course 400V + is the correct answer...........that covers Voltage up to infinity  :sleepy:

Seems like the difference between the premium and performance model of the seal,or Sealion 7 is only 100k . Sure looks attractive and tempting to move up to the performance for the speed and awd even though you do not need it .

Well, when they say 400V and 800V architecture that is a "nominal" type name.  A 400V system can have a voltage range a 100 or so volts lower than 400V and even several hundred volts higher.    Pretty much ditto for an 800V architecture system....several hundred volts below and above the 800V "nominal" value.    And a key point is are we talking a 2024  Seal model or a 2025 Seal model....ditto for the Sealion.  But it seems if the charging rate spec is 150KW max then it's still a 400V system; if 240KW then it's a 800V system.

BYD calls it 800V when they refer to the 'e-platform 3.0' - hence my comment. Way back when, the 'e-platform 3.0' was announced, they called it 800V - it's not my invention. I think the confusion is about the meaning of 800V - this simply denotes the max. voltage of the DC charger. Only 800V capable chargers will give the max. benefits of e.g. a Seal battery pack. Older chargers have lower max. voltages and will not be able to pump a car with as many electrons.......remember P=V*I

Below 1 Dec 2024 car250.com article on the Sealion 7 may help clarify BYD 800V architecture.   Two different 800V types:
(1)  e-Platform 3.0

(2)  e-Platform 3.0 EVO.

While both are 800V systems the e-Platform 3.0 version has a max charge rate of around 150KW and the E-Platform 3.0 EVO has a max rate of around around 230KW.

The article says Thailand currently gets the e-Platform 3.0 version (i.e., 150KW max) while some other countries get the e-Platform 3.0 EVO version (i.e., 230KW).
