Very Odd.. Wmp11 And Video Stream Crashes My Adsl Modem !

Featured Replies

I have been having an issue with Phuket Gazette TV.. http://www.phuketgazette.net/tv/

In the past it worked fine for me in my exact setup. Sent my mate a video link (who uses vista) and he replied it had never worked for him ever, odd I thought as it streams and worked really well for me.

Then I upgraded to WMP11 and from then on it never worked for me either !! Of course vista is WMP11 also, OK so theres a common problem in the WMP11 but (and this is where it gets really wierd)..

When I click a PGTV link to request a video stream my ADSL modem reboots !! The error logs are cleared at reboot, so all I see is kernal warm restart, find ADSL line, connection to ISP etc.. But this is consistent and 100%. I either link to a video feed or I click the 'watch video' link on the screen in the link above and bamb modem reboot. If I keep clicking link it just keeps rebooting.

Now its one thing for WMP11 to not work with thier feed but its nuts to me that clicking a link can reset / reboot my ADSL modem !!

I should also say that all codecs are up to date, all video normally runs fine from other sites, be that embedded WMV in a page or a link to a WMV download (open as application. All this extra WMP11 and WMV codec info aside, I still dont get how any link is going to reboot my modem !!

work fine for me using Vista, I would suggest you vistit the webpage of your modem manufacturer and see it there's new firmware. Usually this solves issue like this. I for instance had router reboots when running cisco VPN client some years ago, upgrading to the latest firmware fixed the issue for me.
