Locals were shocked to discover the dead body of an American man floating in the Chao Phraya River in Samut Prakarn province near Bangkok. The cause of his death is under investigation.

A 34 year old Thai man named Noppadon Charnnarongkun reported his shocking discovery at Phra Padaeng Police Station yesterday, November 6. Noppadon explained that he was working at the dock of the Sub Staporn company on Soi Phetchahueng 21 in Phra Padaeng district of Samut Prakarn when he noticed the body.

Police and rescuers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation arrived at the scene and discovered that the dead man was a foreigner. The man was wearing a black T-shirt, long black trousers and trainers.

Due to the company’s rules and conditions at the dock, rescuers were unable to recover the body there. They had to drag the body to the Bang Kajao Nork temple dock and retrieve it.

  • So some company's rules stop the police from recovering a dead body in situ..........

  • Not only that, they can't set up a crime scene where the body was found. I wonder if they understand how ridiculous this makes the RTP look in the eyes of the world.

  • Set up a crime scene in the middle of the Chao Praya river?? You're joking, yes? Surely the first thing any police force would do is retrieve the body and take it to a morgue for a post mortem.

This country just gets madder by the minute, that would ruin any forensic evidence directly at the scene.

Conditions of the dock as well , it may have been unsafe to retrieve the body from the location .

No, the first rule is to preserve the scene. Then CSI can examine the area for any evidence such as drag marks, weapons etc which would indicate whether the dock was a crime scene or just where  the body drifted to. Removing the body to another place before retrieving it from the water risks losing evidence such as property during the transfer process.

I think may have been better if he was dead before entering that water 🤔Rip

Maybe they need up-dating with a caveat in the case of emergencies.

Why do you assume that? They found the US passport, which includes emergency contact information.

No, preventing the police from recovering the body was not what was reported.

No, the body was found yesterday, the same day that the embassy was informed.  His name was released in this report today.

There was no reference to the police's work being obstructed in any way.  The body was drifting down the Chao Phraya, how do the police "set up a crime scene" on the river where the body was first sighted?  I wonder if you understand how ridiculous you....never mind.

Reading the story often prevents ridiculous replies.

If the dead body was flowing in the river........it doesn't matter to pull him out some meters away.

Is that supposed to be some sort of put down or funny........

If you actually read my comment is was more in surprise that company rules trumped the police in this instance.

Some people have no idea.

You know what in situ means.....

What was reported was that the he body could not be recovered from the dock.......it had to be dragged to another one. Or are you disputing that as well.......
