webfact
Residents in the central province of Lop Buri are urging authorities to intervene as the population of iguanas in the region has surged dramatically. The animals have reportedly bitten a resident and caused significant damage to plantations and agricultural produce. Channel 3 reported that a master’s degree student conducted a study in the Khao Phaya Doen Dong community in Lob Buri province and discovered a number of iguana populations in the area. The reptiles in the area are the common green iguana which is considered an alien species in Thailand. According to a study report, the iguanas are causing changes to the ecosystem while also consuming local produce. Some residents have abandoned their land after losing all of their produce to the iguanas, and some members of the community highlighted that one local had been bitten by an iguana. by Petch Petpailin Photo via Facebook/ สำนักงานประชาสัมพันธ์จังหวัดลพบุรี Full story: The Thaiger 2023-11-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Geoffggi
I would imagine the monkeys create much more damage & loss of fruit especially from the trucks although this is entertaining for the onlooker .........LOL
jcmj
I’d suggest making a new Thai delicacy from the iguana. Stir fried, bbq’d, fried. So many options and not far from what many people eat already. Probably a bit more meat.

If they taste as good as Goanna they'd have a winner.

PETERTHEEATER
Exactly what local field products do these animals eat? I do not believe any Thai who owns land would abandon it.
