You are likely near Sukhumvit. Get out to Bang Na, Ratchathewi, and the vast majority of other areas. Bangkok is a tourist mecca. Does that mean tourism is booming? Ask anyone in the industry.

    Never mind, opening bars which are downright dives, until 4am will do a lot to bring in more family groups and high end tourists. They flock to those sorts of places in the early hours of the morning

Ratchathewi full of tourists. Bang Na had never any tourists.

Tourists booming or not, economy is doing fine. Better than in most other countries
