Revenue officials dismissed as NACC uncovers Bt2 billion in bank accounts

A Revenue Department official, attached to Bang Sao Thong district in Samut Prakan province, and three associates have been ruled by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to be “unusually rich” for having about 2.1 billion baht in their bank accounts.

 

Sornchai Chuvichien, NACC assistant secretary-general, said that “Danai”, a revenue specialist, has 1.189 billion baht in seven accounts, “Cholatharn” has 559 million baht in five bank accounts, “Duangkamon” has 334 million baht in three bank accounts and “Uthumporn” has 1.8 million baht in one bank account.

 

He said that the four individuals are unable to explain to the NACC how and where they acquired so much money, which is considerably beyond their visible and legitimate earnings.

We will never know because defamation law always takes precedence which precludes the reporting of any outcome.

Like many other state employed people in Thailand they are hugely corrupt, where would you start, RTP, the army, immigration officials, elected members, public office workers and on & on. There is no integrity, no honesty and no shame!

 

Shame on you leaders of Thailand for allowing this situation to become so deeply engrained in Thai society.

All the talk over the potential new tax law interpretations, pales in comparison to what they can raise by just checking on a few situations like this..... gotta tax a LOT of inbound foreign income to raise 2 BILLION THB........

Must be a lot more. Where there are opportunities there are thieves. I know expat report income without documentation and get along with that. Not possible without bend people at revenue dept.
