webfact Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Bangchak Corporation Plc (BCP) has announced that it has undertaken a move to buy a 180,000 ton ship in order to enhance its capacity and expand its production of oil refinery. BCP, in a statement, said that on December 8th this year, Bangchak Sriracha Refinery received the “Nordic Pollux” oil tanker, a 180,000-ton Suezmax vessel, for the 1st time to deliver of Que Iboe crude (approximately 950,000 barrels), procured by BCP Trading Company Limited, a company within the Refinery and Oil Trading Business Group, for Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited. Suezmax vessels are long-distance or intercontinental crude oil tankers with a capacity of 120,000 – 200,000 DWT (Deadweight Tonnage), representing the sum of the weight of the crude oil and fuel the ship can carry. A Suezmax vessel is the largest class of ships capable of transiting the Suez Canal in Egypt. How long do oil tankers last? What is the useful life of an oil tanker? An industry average for the life span of an oil tank is 20 years, some tanks last longer and some shorter. 1
