The Cabinet agreed today to exempt Japanese businessmen making business trips to Thailand, of no longer than 30 days, from requiring a visa.

Deputy government spokesman Kharom Phonpornklang said that this visa exemption will come into force on January 1 and last until December 31, 2026.

Thai PBS is blocked here in China.

I wonder what the details are?  Is visa exempt travel new for Japanese visitors?  Does that mean a Japanese guy can come into Thailand, work at a joint venture factory for 4 weeks without a visa or WP?  Or does he still need a WP to work?  And is there a limit to the number of 30 day visits a year, or can he stay 28 days on, 7 days off (for example) all year long?

Not that it matters to me.  Just curious what's coming down the pike...

Any regular business traveller from an APEC economy, of which Japan is, already has an APEC business travel card, which gives them 90 days visa-free to Thailand and all the other economies.
