British National Killed in Sattahip Motorcycle Accident
Right at the bottom of the picture, it looks like impact has ripped the top yoke away from the steering head. FFS, he must have been doing Stupid mph to do that!! -

Drunk Crashes Into Motorcycle, Killing Two 14-Year-Old Girls in Tragic Wrong-Way Collision
Yes indeed - I sometimes read them on the bog for a laugh. I thought Bangkok Post was 'banned' here - perhaps it is linking to their stories - my bad. -

Removing Broken Pipe
I'm sure the fittings here (even "premium" brands) are made of some sort of water-soluble metal. The ruddy things seem to just dissolve from the inside leaving a paper-thin structure that crinkles up like aluminium foil at the slightest stress.- 1

Is Thailand Value for money
Who are you helping by telling that Texas BBQ ribs, cheeseburgers and shrimp scampi and healthy foods? Did you assess @thaibeachlovers condition before doing so? You aren't helping anyone other than trying to feed your own ego. You just talk about you, you, you. Obnoxious is correct. -

Supercar convoy causes major delays on M6 motorway (video)
Well i wouldn't hold my breath whilst waiting to see it . Seriously though the maroon and yellow coloured highway patrol cars do seem to spend a lot of time providing "escorts" to various "VIPs" Where I live its quite common to see them escorting minibuses to the cambodian border presumably escorting people to the casino there. I have also seen them escorting various Cambodian registered vehicles to and from Surin city center, presumably visiting the hospitals, and I once saw them parked up in the Makro car park with a Cambodian Lexus I can't imagine its anything other than a cash payment that is accepted, especially in the case of escorting Cambodians, As far as Thai VIP's are concerned ,I have no idea how they pay , and to be honest I couldn't care less -

ICE vs EV, the debate thread
Highlighted text above. That's really funny. Those who say that are either poor drivers and/or totally ignorant about regenerative braking. If set to high, the car does decelerate quickly, in some instances, bringing it to a complete sop. This is known as one pedal driving, a big plus of some EVs as it negates the need to use the friction brakes, extending its life and reducing maintenance costs. This feature ha multiple levels and can also be turned off completely if so desired. -

Incompetant
Does Thai have a word for incompetant? A colleague was saying that so-and-so was not good at his work and listed reasons. I said the word in English was incompetant. Do the thais have that word in their language or do they just say tamgnarn mai dee? -

Where can I find school holidays for academic year 2024/ 25 in the Isaan region?
After getting my grandchild through 10 years of schooling, I can categorically state that: you will learn when the holidays start about a week before. As for the end of the holidays, you may (as we experienced it) receive a message at 9pm on the Sunday, telling you that school starts the next day. It may turn out that what actually happens is a totally unimportant 'orientation day' to be followed by another week or two of, not holidays exactly, but being unable to plan any excursions with the kids. I have the feeling that not even the class teachers know any better, only the school head acts on a whim. You get used to it.
