I started feeling lightheaded every morning for a week now. Suspiciously it started at the same time the pillution in Bangkok started getting much worse. I have been living in Bangkok and crappy air for 10 years now but never felt this bad. I have a feeling it is affecting my gut. At night my nose is completely stuffy to the point I fight for air.

The air purifier is not helping much.

Should I be worried?

I'm not in Bangkok but, for the first time in as long as I can remember, for almost six months I have continuously been coughing up/blowing out the nasty green stuff. During that time it has varied in quantity and viscosity but never stopped. I now have a permanent ache around my left eye. As you say, it must be something airborne?

Drink something before you go to sleep (I don’t mean alcohol) and immediately when you wake up.

I never drink alcohol.

I also don't smoke.

I started drinking more water now, but I don't see the difference.

Do you feel less lightheaded after drinking your morning tea/coffee with a spoonful of sugar in it?

I try not to put any sugar in coffee now, but I will try.

You think it is sugar? I am pre diabetic.

I passed out due to low blood glucose. I have since had a full blood count test (4 tubes). As all is normal my GP says I'm not diabetic. However, first thing most mornings I feel wobbly and a little nauseous. A cup of coffee with a spoon of sugar always sorts me out.

Are you sleeping more than usual or going through a period of low physical activity? That can cause lightheadedness if you get out of bed or stand up too quickly. Also, low blood pressure can cause dizziness.

I also recommend getting basic blood work done every year. Of course it's probably cheaper here in Pattyaya than Bangkok but it's nice to know info. I'm also supposed to get a colonoscopy but screw that lol.

Yes, now that everyone is mentioning this, I did run 2-3 times a week, but in the last 2 months I completely stopped.

The first thing I would do is see a doctor.

Could be many things . If you have a BP machine take your blood preasure

You might try a spray to clear your sinuses...

For nose. My nose tends to block at night too for some reason. I think it may be the  low humidity at home. I keep Otrivin by the bed. One spray and it clears it and i have a better sleep. All pharmacies have it.

For dizzyness. No idea but i get like that if i don't exercise and take care of myself. Not sure about you though

I was also experiencing dizziness (but not specifically in the morning; it occurred at various times). Turns out, I was anemic -- low hemoglobin (red blood cells) and iron deficiency. Other symptoms were chronic fatigue and shortness of breath. You mentioned that you are no longer running.

Like you, I have a hiatal hernia (for the past several years), and in searching for the cause of the anemia, the gastro doctor at Chiang Mai Ram did an endoscopy, which turned up that I also have a small stomach ulcer, likely the cause of the loss of red blood cells. I’ve been treated for all this, and now I’m much better. (My blood pressure has been normal throughout.)

I would recommend getting your blood tested for red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and iron deficiency (there are several related things that they test for), especially if you’re also fatigued and short of breath. Good luck!

See an ENT specialist for possible BPPV (Benign Positional Vertigo) caused by crystals in your ear canal, I've been suffering for a year now. Also I use a Hashi Salts rinse for my nasal issues, really helps keep the nasal passage clean of the pollutants and allergies. You can purchase the Hashi salts a practically any pharmacy.

IMO the first action should be a blood pressure check for hypotension.

Check it in your home environment when the dizziness is occurring. Checks with a doctor may be misleading, due to white coat syndrome.

I have a hiatal hernia also for many years.  It causes acid which I take medication for.
I have had stuffy nose issues over the years.  Not often.  The symptoms would be upon awakening.  Mine is attributed to allergies.

The only thing I can recommend is try a nasal irrigation kit if you can find one.  Ask a good pharmacy.  It will have saline packets, and irrigation bottle.  You mix the saline powder in the bottle with warm distilled water.  Do not use tap water.  Do it in the morning and before you go to bed.  The kit should have instructions how to use it.
If the problem continues.  I suggest you see an ENT.
A stuffy nose should have nothing to do with your hiatal hernia or stomach

nope

I speak from experience having had  exactly the same issue.

as I said earlier

The first thing you need to do is check your  in the morning at home , don't wait until you go to the doctors office because the act of going to the doctors office could rase your BP to safe levels.

But there are other issues that could be causing your condition.

In my case it turned out that all of a sudden I started experiencing PVC , no not the plastic LOL

Premature ventricular contractions , a simple medication regimen solved that problem immediately ,

now we cut my med to half with no reappearance of the PVC issue , and at my next follow up. we will reduced  again to every other day and if I still don't experience PVC episodes we will eliminate it and wait to see ib the issues returns, if it does i will go back on the med at the lowest dosage that controlled it.

The point is that you need to see a doctor It could be something different, before this occurred to me I had never heard of PVC. .

Doctor visits are very inexpensive here in Thailand there is no reason not to.

Another member who consults AN readers instead of a doctor. Weird. I know some people are afraid of doctors, but I'd be more afraid of asking non-qualified people for medical advice.
