CHIANG MAI (NNT) - Currently, a prototype vehicle has been introduced, and two additional cars are expected to be operational soon. These vehicles are in the process of registration and are undergoing formalities with the transportation authorities, with an anticipation of being put to use in the near future.

The cost of converting a traditional two-row vehicle to an EV is estimated at 700,000 Thai Baht per unit. The shift from the conventional red two-row vehicles, which cost around 3 Baht per kilometer in fuel, to the EV model, will significantly reduce the cost to about 70 Satang per kilometer.

This transition represents a substantial reduction in operating costs and is a step towards more sustainable transportation solutions in Thailand.

Almost got one for the wife, I liked the interior (seats) in the one I saw at the Bangkok Auto Show, though I would prefer a hybrid. For some reason you can't get the Honda City Hatchback Hybrid with leather seats, I hate cloth.

What The Flip is a "two row vehicle" please?

700k for a "conversion", pay a bit more for a new "real" EV!

Perhaps a direct translation from Songtaew!

Yeah, "song thaew".

My aging brain didn't make the connection, everyone uses the Thai name, didn't the person doing the translation actually realise this

These chaps.

It would be interesting to see what they come up with, the people at CMU are pretty hot on the tech front, but this story will doubtless fade into the background as usual.
