Geeze I got the dill brigade here today.

555, I've been living in Thailand for the past 17 years and never heard of a farang using a blue book, without his/her name in it,  to prove where they live. Hence the many questions.

So from what I'm reading, you supply IO with false information.

I can obtain one on a tourist visa? And where exactly can I get one?

Not likely.

Why would you say that, are you 100% sure.

I was getting residency certificates for 15 years on a tourist visa.

When and where was the last time you obtained a CoR on a tourist visa? They stopped giving them on tourist visas in the last year or two, they want to see the long term stamp in the passport.

I'm probably very different to most people here.

I've been working offshore on a drilling rig, I made Thailand my home in my 30's, I had to adapt, I only needed a tourist visa as my rotation is 28 days on and off, you soon get to know your way around when you're thrown in the deep end.

2015 I worked offshore, Songkla. Prior to that, 18 years ago I had never worked in Thailand, my bank (Kasikorn) issue me a Platinum credit card, I now have a Wisdom card also.

So many changes in Thailand over the years, sadly for the worse.

I use my wife's blue house book & ID card to prove my address when I extend my permission to stay each year. Also used it to get a few CoRs. My name isn't in the blue book.

I'm on a retirement visa now.

New car and bike sales would have taken a big hit.

The guys I work with come to Thailand on tourist visas and would regularly buy new vehicles

No worries, they’ll still spend the money and buy vehicles and leave them with the holiday chicks.

I guess each IO is different, here in Pattaya, they want to see something "official" with your name & address on it, not a Thai's blue book WITHOUT your name.

I guess living in the sticks has it's advantages.

I renewed my 5 year driving licences (car and bike) at Chonburi (Banglamung) DLT November and used my house blue book to get a CofR.

For the sounds of it, your situation is different.

Does having PR put your name/address on a blue book?

I bought my first motorbike early 2000's, Yamaha Mio from Mityon soi Buakhao the same salesman still works there, I've bought a few bikes from him.

I probably wouldn't have bought any if I was unable to get a CofR.

If you have PR you can have your name in a Blue house book.

I don't have PR.

I never said my name was in the blue book.

BTW, if you have PR a foreigner can have their name in house blue book

In the past I’ve bought vehicles using a CoR on a tourist visa as well. But things have changed, no can do anymore.
