The planet has had at least one ice age before we came along to pollute the planet. Isn't that what killed off the dinosaurs (apart from those in VIP positions in Thailand)? It's a cycle. I suppose we're just helping it along, and maybe at the same time removing ourselves from existence to leave the Earth to do what it's been doing for millions of years unaided by us. Now it's our turn to be made extinct. That's okay. The planet clearly will be far healthier without us.

So the Europeans will be fleeing south towards the tropics.

Mankind has suffered worse, the younger Dryas and the volcanoes in the Russian traps but a small number has always pulled through and it was small as witnessed by the very small genetic diversity in the human race, there is more genetic diversity in one group of chimpanzees than among mankind, I believe the bottleneck of survivors consisted of a few hundred people in India.

Regardless of the study results, you can bet they'll be recommending we take money from a lot of people and give it to a few, to fix the problem.  The problem that may and may not be a natural cycle. 

 

Wasn't there a small ice age in Europe when it happened last?  Long before today's industrial output, which has prevented millions from starving or freezing to death, BTW.

That was the supervolcano eruption that blew a hole in the earth which is now Lake Toba, on the island of Sumatra, some 74,000 years ago. Only a few hundred people, maybe a couple thousand at the most, survived the  1,000 year winter that followed the eruption. 
There’s another supervolcano under Yellowstone Park, which is starting to show signs of becoming active again. It would sure mess up my retirement if that one erupted any time soon.

Actually if you go back to the 1920's there was a similar report in one of the top US newspapers, NY Times I think.

The worlds worst enemy is mankind and it's self-centered way of life.

The bottom line is that mankind will not do anything of any worth to prevent climate change as there is too much self-interest by too many in not making it happen. The biggest polluters are the very countries who are the most reluctant to make any changes. Add in the continuing rape of the world's lung, the Amazon rainforest, at a rapid rate which the last President there was in favour of, and the present one who is powerless in the face of those carrying out the destruction, and the planet really doesn't have a chance. And so nor do we.

 

It's interesting to see the way the human race self-destructs, in so many areas. Seen Ukraine or Gaza lately? And that's just in the last few hundred days. Build, destroy. It's everywhere. This week the appalling water pollution in the UK has been in the news, with those responsible receiving massive bonuses for overseeing it. The human race flounders on a sea of greed and there is not the smallest sign that anything will change. Just the way it is, and future generations will reap what is sown. And not enough of those who matter care enough to change it. It's ignored, pushed down the road. Any talk of change is just that, talk.

We are not responsible, it is not our fault, the earth is simply too large, the oceans are simply too vast for us to have any effect on them. Stop blaming us, it is not our fault.

 

I don't want to change my habits, I don't want to be responsible, I don't want to accept blame, I want to continue ignoring the warnings, so stop showing me this stuff.

Sounds great and scary woooooooo. But it's just a computer model they are trying to scare us with to sell more advertising at higher rates. They could, with different assumptions, have forecast an increase in temperature for north western europe of 27 celsius. I must admit I am hoping for misery and an apocalypse after I die in a couple of years. Enjoy.

Even if incontrovertible proof was found that climate change is definitely caused by humans, and it will destroy our way of life - possibly killing us all, nothing would be done.  It's the nature of the beast.  Tell the average 20 year old that he should stop smoking, cut down on drinking, eat less fatty food and exercise more in order to preserve his health through to his older years and will he listen, let alone follow your advice?  If we won't even take action now to save our own bodies later, we're certainly not going to change our lifestyles now to save a bunch of other people in the future.  We'd rather live in the moment, have our fun and hang the consequences.  Sad as it is, unless changes are forced on us - which would no doubt lead to protests and rioting, they're not going to happen.

Okay, just another thing for the chicken littles to worry about.
