A significant development is unfolding in the legal battle involving former President Donald Trump and his associates in Georgia, as a misconduct hearing targeting Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is set to commence. Trump, who plans to attend the hearing, aims to challenge Willis's involvement in the case due to allegations of misconduct and financial impropriety.

Key Points:

1. Misconduct Allegations Against Fani Willis: The hearing, prompted by allegations against Willis and prosecutor Nathan Wade, centers on claims of a personal and financial relationship between the two attorneys. These accusations, made by one of Trump's co-defendants, suggest that Willis and Wade financially benefited from the case through their alleged romantic involvement.

2. Implications for Willis: Should the allegations be substantiated, Willis could face disqualification from the case. Despite admitting to their relationship, both Willis and Wade vehemently deny the accusations, dismissing them as baseless attempts to undermine the prosecution.

3. Court's Decision: Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has mandated a hearing to examine the allegations thoroughly. McAfee emphasized the necessity of establishing evidence regarding potential financial benefits derived from the relationship. The hearing, scheduled to commence on February 15, will delve into the core allegations presented by Trump's co-defendant.

4. Trump's Involvement: Trump's presence at the hearing underscores the significance of the proceedings. This marks his first appearance in any legal proceedings related to the Georgia case since the onset of the criminal charges against him.

5. Legal Battle Intensifies: The case against Trump and his co-defendants revolves around allegations of a "criminal enterprise" aimed at unlawfully overturning Georgia's 2020 election results. As the legal battle unfolds, tensions escalate, with accusations flying between the defendants and prosecutors.

6. Response from Willis: In response to the allegations, Willis has defended her actions, emphasizing her commitment to pursuing justice. She has denounced the accusations as unfounded and suggested they are intended to disrupt the case and undermine her role as prosecutor.

7. Racial Bias Allegations: Willis has also raised concerns about racial bias, highlighting attacks against her as potentially motivated by racism. Trump's legal team, however, has criticized her remarks, accusing her of attempting to inject racial bias into the case.

8. Ongoing Legal Challenges: The allegations against Willis add another layer of complexity to the legal proceedings involving Trump and his associates. With multiple legal battles underway, including separate charges in Manhattan, Trump faces mounting legal challenges as he continues his political endeavors.

If Fani Willis is caught in lies in her court filings, she is history.

And if Trump is caught in a lie?

This fanny is a disgrace.

No doubt she should be removed. She has zero moral authority at this point. Just another lying, hypocritical Democrat who pretends to claim the high ground while behaving like a sewer rat.

This may have a greater impact than the relationship finances:

The document accuses Willis of using media appearances to prejudice the defendants in the election interference case before any charges were filed. It argues that Willis's media access to authors of a book was intended to taint the jury pool and document her rise to fame.

Trump isn't the Prosecutor. And Trump doesn't have to testify at trial.

I guess he could do what he did in the New York trial, take the stand and plead the 5th over 400 times eh?

He has yet to be involved in a criminal trial.

And just to note, a defendant in a criminal trial cannot be called by the prosecution to testify. If the defendant chooses to voluntarily testify in his/her own defense, then he/she cannot invoke the 5th amendment on the stand during any cross-examination.

And in the NY civil trial Trump invoked the 5th during a mandatory deposition. It was not invoked while on the stand.

The witness for the plaintiff testified that she saw Willis and Wade kissing before 2022.

Then she got destroyed on cross.

A former friend of Fani Willis in the DA's office, she was fired for bad performance and is still angry. She doesn't remember any details.

Bad witness.

Next!

Update: Attorney Terrence Bradley was supposed to testify that he witnessed Wade and Willis in a romantic relationship. Instead, he declined to testify.

Oops.

This whole court session is a joke.

'I had health on my mind': Nathan Wade testifies cancer stopped him from dating in 2020

The sole witness alleging a relationship between Nathan Wade and Fani Willis pre-2021 clearly perjured herself.

The plaintiff's attorney is doing her best Alina Habba imitation.  She's down to questioning whether Fani Willis got more shrimp when they dined together and split expenses.

At the worst, the judge is going to refer the issue to the state Bar. Or not.

Bradley worried about losing law license by testifying

The judge says he thinks Bradley’s understanding of privilege could be too broad.

Abbate, from the district attorney’s office, says Bradley has already told the court that he has no independent knowledge about the information Merchant seeks.

With the issue in dispute, Bradley’s testimony has been paused while the court hears from a friend of Willis, Robin Yeartie, who is testifying via Zoom.

But also:

'Not a one,' Wade says when asked if he has documentation that Fani Willis reimbursed him for trips they took that he paid for

Wade said that Willis paid him many thousands of dollars in cash as reimbursement for romantic trips they took together that he put on his credit card. But he said repeatedly that he kept no records of ATM deposits or anything else to corroborate that.

“You don’t have a single solitary deposit slip to document depositing … these thousands of dollars,” the money?” Gillen asked.

“Not a one,” Wade responded.

Over more than 15 minutes of questioning, Wade said he has no away of documenting any of the case (sic) Willis purportedly gave him. And he said that in a discussion of the controversy with Willis, he didn’t ask her if she had a way of documenting that she reimbursed him for trips to Aruba and elsewhere.

The hearing seems to have gone poorly for Trump, as evidenced by the lack of comments from the Trump fluffers here.

In the Real World, there are a lot of reactions from women, who are new Fani Willis supporters. The hearings seem to have struck a nerve. Lots of style points for Ms. Willis.

The one witness against Fani Willis didn't seem to have a lot of credibility, especially given the circumstances of her firing by Fani Willis.

Fani Willis wraps testimony in disqualification hearing
 02/16/24 10:29 AM ET

Both Willis and Wade testified that they split the costs, with Willis — an “independent, proud woman” who insisted on paying her own way, according to Wade — paying the special prosecutor back in cash. A defense attorney in the gallery suggested the prosecutors’ cash system didn’t “pass the smell test,” despite Willis’s own testimony she has kept a cash stash in her house “all my life.

The second day is going badly for Trump.

Fani Willis' father lives with her and says he never met Nathan Wade until 2023.

Supposedly, Fani Willis had a different boyfriend in 2019.

Maybe Fani Willis only paid partially for the meals and trips. So she should be partially disqualified.

Seriously, given her income, the idea that she hired someone so she could get some free meals is pretty crazy.
