BANGKOK (NNT) - His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand granted an audience to the Governor-General of Australia, General David Hurley, and his spouse, Linda, during their official visit to Thailand as guests of the government.

General Hurley and his wife were welcomed by Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at Wat Ratchabophit.

The Australian Governor-General and the Thai Supreme Patriarch conversed for about 45 minutes. Before the visiting guests departed, His Holiness bestowed upon them a Buddha image, commemorative coins, an aerial photograph of the temple, and a prayer book as memorabilia.

General David and his wife then signed the guest book of Wat Ratchabophit before touring the surroundings of the establishment and the exhibition about the history of Wat Ratchabophit in the temple.

Before leaving, General David and his spouse laid a wreath to pay homage to the statue of King Rama the 5th.

Is the governor general a Buddhist?
it’s weird for the Supreme Patriarch to host what is effectively a Head of State. Where’s all the Thai government officials?

Nah, forget it
