Big Joke faces 2 charges over financial links to gambling operators

Deputy National Police Chief Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn has been charged with the wrongful exercise of duties and accepting bribes by the police.

 

This follows the discovery of a financial connection between him and an illegal online gambling network through at least 4 mule accounts valued at 300 million baht, as reported by Pol Maj Gen Jaroonkiat Pankaew, deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). He also said more than half of the 300 million was transferred to other high-ranking officers and used to cover Pol Gen Surachate's daily expenses.

 

Pol Gen Surachate, along with four other police officers accused of the same offenses, could also face charges of money laundering, according to Pol Maj Gen Jaroonkiat.

[Update] Pol Maj Gen Jaroonkiat stated that the investigation into Pol Gen Surachate is linked to the probe against Suchanun "Minnie" Sucharitchinsri, who is suspected of operating online gambling websites involving 61 suspects and eight other police officers.

 

In September 2023, Suchanun denied allegations of running illegal online gambling websites. However, she did acknowledge having a close relationship with one of Deputy National Police Chiefs, Pol Gen Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn's close aides, Pol Col Pakpoom Pisamai.

I'm heart broken. I thought he was clean, although I did wonder how he managed to have all those houses in Bangkok on a cop's salary. Another one bites the dust....I suppose someone really clever will remind me that he's innocent until proven guilty....but still we still have out thoughts and as a realist, I have to say, he's probably guilty as hell. But off they throw the book at him, will they throw the book at the ones who actually ran the schemes....the 8 senior policemen. Nah I think they'll let those guys off with a 200 baht fine.

Ditto here, How naive can I be thinking he was the one above all the rabid corruption that surrounds us.When he appeared several weeks ago pictured outside one of his several houses in his boxers, should have raised some alarm bells. Maybe Tony can fix this once he sheds the arm sling, neck brace and wheelchair props.

At a minimum he should be suspended from duties and banned from any police properties or activities (if not already). Additionally no contact with any other accused or witnesses. Assume charge will result in a full court case where all the evidence and witnesses can be examined in a transparent manner.

That's how he was able to pay for his promotions, putting him 3 ~ 5 years ahead of his contemporaries.

What was the name of that senior honest cop who had to do a runner to Australia a few years ago? He found out the army were involved in human trafficking who were being protected by a very senior watch man. They wanted to post him off to the south were he was sure he would be done in, so he felt he had no choice but to leave.

As i posted just the other day, anybody who thinks he's clean needs their head examining,  one member who obviously did not agree   even asked me for the contact details of a good phrenologist in an attempt to dismiss my assertion,  I doubt he will be commenting about this
