On February 29th, Colonel Thanana Nuchnanart, Deputy Commander of the Immigration Bureau, announced significant arrests made under the supervision of Major General Itthipol Itthisaranachai, the Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, following the policies set by the National Immigration Office. Lieutenant Colonel Sukkanit Sukwimon, Deputy Commissioner, Lieutenant Colonel Surachet Hakphal, Deputy Commissioner, and Lieutenant Colonel Thanawat Chuwong, Deputy Commissioner/Acting Director of the Transnational Crime Suppression Center, were also involved.

The Immigration Bureau has ordered thorough investigations and apprehensions of foreign nationals engaging in illegal activities in Thailand, including scrutinizing Thai and foreign residents exhibiting inappropriate behavior. These actions violate the law, endanger public safety, tarnish the country's image, or involve transnational criminal activities exploiting Thailand as a base. reported Siam Rath.

Today's arrests include three cases:

Two Chinese nationals posing as Canadians were apprehended at Gate within Suvarnabhumi Airport with fake Canadian passports. Mr. Jianbo (alias), aged 48, and Mr. Pinhua (alias), aged 49, were detained and accused of possessing and using counterfeit passports.

Two individuals were found with fake Canadian passports, planning to travel to Taipei, Taiwan, then to Vancouver, Canada, with no travel records from Canada. They were unable to communicate in English. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the information on their Canadian passports did not match Canadian databases.

Both individuals were arrested for "possessing or using counterfeit passports" and sent for further investigation according to the law.

In a recent breakthrough, law enforcement officials have successfully nabbed a van operator who had been on the run for half a decade. The individual, known as Mr. Ong (alias), aged 33 and hailing from Myanmar, had an outstanding warrant issued by the Ranong Province court (Warrant No. 136/2564, dated November 22, 2564). He is facing charges related to aiding the illegal entry of foreigners into Thailand, in violation of the Communicable Diseases Act 2015, along with accusations of embezzling property from his employer, totaling more than 200,000 baht.

Mr. Ong was apprehended in the vicinity of a residential zone near Bang Bon Canal in Bangkok. Investigations unveiled his involvement in smuggling undocumented workers across the Thai-Myanmar border, circumventing legal channels. He managed to elude authorities by assuming false identities and taking up residence in Bangkok.

In a separate incident, law enforcement officers detained a young Pakistani individual, identified as Mr. Sabas (alias), aged 32, for disseminating explicit images of a woman with whom he had a romantic relationship on a social media platform. This arrest was executed based on a warrant issued by the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court (Warrant No. 835/2566, dated September 12, 2566). Mr. Sabas had been hiding out in a rented accommodation in the Ramkhamhaeng 24 area of Bang Kapi district, Bangkok.

Mr. Sabas admitted to fabricating fake accounts on Facebook and Instagram to share private photos of his former Thai partner without her consent, causing her emotional distress and tarnishing her reputation. His arrest ensued following a complaint from the victim, leading to a thorough inquiry and subsequent apprehension.

Just one time can they turn up in disguise, as Canadian Mounties, because they watched the wrong video.

Maybe a 21st century computer system connected with all immigration checkpoints and offices could be a start. How is it possible to enter with a false passport? They take their time to check at arrivals as we see the queues so where did it go wrong? And all the other offenders.....Thais are not better than these foreigners

They have committed the name of the cleaners at the Immigration, wouldn't be a lot better to say the top commanders

at the immigration instead of listing 5 ranks, positions and names names?...

They are all "hiding" (in plain sight that is) in Thailand... Time to fit them all out with electronic tags for better monitoring.

Acquired the Canadian passports here after entering visa exempt on Chinese passports? To me this looks like an attempt to enter Canada illegally/destroy passports on arrival and claim asylum.

Been going on for decades.

Who said they entered with a false passport? They were apprehended trying to DEPART using false passports.

Who said they must have passed entered via a controlled Thai immigration point? How they entered Thailand is anyone's guess as the borders are porous and, as a subsequent story suggested, people are smuggled in from Myanmar. It's a safe bet that these guys entered Thailand either illicitly and without travel documents, or they have 'swapped' whatever travel documents they had for some dodgy Canadian ones.

What they need to do is crack down on the IOs doing under the table extensions, then they can limit O applications to two a year. Eliminating the shady visa holders will eliminate most of the shady behavior.

The name of the person making the announcement is Phantana, not Thanana (his name is even shown in the photo), and he's a Major General, not a Colonel. Itthipol is a Lieutenant General, not a Major General. And Big Joke Surachet is a full General, not a Lieutenant Colonel. This isn't hard.

Hardly major crimes arrest's, and one being on the run for half a decade err is that not 5 years.

May be Thailand should take a lead from Sri Lanka who are deporting 300 000 Ruskies as they had enough of there hospitality being abused by opening illegal business and racist attitudes to the locals.

I didn't see one Russian name in this list why not because Phuket is rampant with them working illegally doing the jobs only thais are allowed to do like taxi drivers being caught on video,,,cleaning jobs they advertise online,, working in restaurants,, teaching English, this one I had a laugh at,, and what about the drink driving and killing people here's the video again.

Excellent point and good on the Sri Lankan people for doing this

Lot of hootin' and hollerin' for catching four (4!) perpetrators.  Many medals and promotions will be handed out no doubt.

In the UK the immigration Dept is employing Indian nationals who are waving other Indians through Heathrow Airport and onto flights to Canada, where they claim asylum.

oh God  '     thank heavens those dangerous criminals are off the streets. Very dangerous foreign criminals surrounded and arrested with force.

Tarnishing the country's image is such a shameful act. Can you imagine destroying the incredibly wholesome nature of this country, with it's pure as  white snow belief system, and the purest morality demonstrated n the entire region? What a true crime that would be.

Lock up the tourists.

In the last year or so, that seems to be exactly what the IB has been working towards, digitising past records and integrating them into their new databases. Anyone relying on the fact that old paper records of entries into and exits from Thailand through different border crossing points are difficult to crosscheck should, perhaps,  be worried.

How on earth will this stop people transiting Thailand with fake travel documents? No mention WHATSOEVER of extensions or visas in the OP. Absolutely none.

Given the number of foreigners entering and exiting Thailand, a percentage of whom are bound to be up to no good, this sounds like a slow day at the office for immigration, not something to shout about.

i’d expect double this everyday if they were doing their job right

And they had to pass through immigration to do that.
