Kanchanaburi—On March 13th, 2024, Thong Pha Phum police and relevant agencies received a report of illegal foreign immigration smuggling to Thailand. The officers patrolled the reported area and found 22 Myanmar nationals who illegally crossed the border in Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi.

At the incident scene, the officers found footmarks and a pickup truck parked near a forest in the Tha Khanun subdistrict. Nobody was spotted inside the vehicle. However, the officers searched the area and detected illegal Myanmar workers hiding in the forest.

As a result, more than 22 Myanmar nationals were captured and escorted to Thong Pha Phum. However, the driver who transported the Myanmar workers was able to flee the police pursuit. The police gave the illegal immigrants food and drink as they appeared quite weary.

Very sad IMO. Trying to escape persecution and genocide being dished out by a terrible Junta run terrorist organisation - the Tatmadaw!! At least they were given refreshments and, I hope, advice on how to remain in Thailand legally and not be thrown back across the border.
