While there is no excuse for drunk driving, the Thai police allow the taxi mafia to operate with rip-off prices, making using your own vehicle the only viable option for many.. Yes agree, but at least they are taking responsibility for their actions. I do the same when attending functions or a night out in Pattaya, cheaper and easier to book a hotel. Came back my house with taxi driver and police in town. He in panic. Wanted borrow big money from me.
