Judge in Trump hush money case rejects attempt to delay trial with immunity defense

Judge Juan Merchan has rejected Donald Trump's attempt to use presidential immunity as part of his defense in the falsifying business records case. The judge ruled that Trump waited too long to raise the issue, thereby denying his motion to delay the trial's start date.

In his ruling on Wednesday, Judge Merchan also denied Trump's request to postpone the trial until the U.S. Supreme Court rules on his immunity claims in the federal election interference case in Washington, D.C.

Trump had argued in a New York filing last month that he is immune from state prosecution for "official acts," and therefore certain evidence against him should be excluded from the trial. This evidence included his tweets and public comments, which his lawyers claimed were official presidential acts. Additionally, Trump's legal team sought a delay in the trial pending the Supreme Court's ruling on his immunity arguments.

However, Judge Merchan dismissed Trump's arguments, stating that Trump had ample opportunities to raise the claim of presidential immunity earlier but failed to do so. The judge concluded that Trump's delay in raising the immunity defense precluded him from using it in the upcoming trial, scheduled to begin on April 15.

This will actually play into trumps favor when the immunity ruling will give him grounds for appeal... the rubes (your word for the day) know what they are doing even if you can't figure it out... your TDS is blinding!
