Popular Post ukrules Posted April 15 Popular Post Posted April 15 Sounds like an attempted murder to me (so far, may turn into a murder) - highly unlikely this was some kind of random attack. Who is the German, obviously they know a lot more than has been released. 3 1 1 8

Lemmens told VRT that he spoke with an Englishman who had suffered a similar attack and was also prepared to press charges and possibly testify in court. The German assailant, described by witnesses as confused and aggressive, reportedly continued to roam the area for hours after attacking Jan before eventually being apprehended by police 8 2 3 4

Popular Post nobodysfriend Posted April 16 Popular Post Posted April 16 From the linked article : Jan underwent a 13-hour surgery to address multiple skull fractures and is currently in a coma with an uncertain prognosis. Doctors have placed numerous plates in his face, and while the surgery was successful, they estimate it could be three to eight months before he might regain consciousness. The German assailant, described by witnesses as confused and aggressive, reportedly continued to roam the area for hours after attacking Jan before eventually being apprehended by police. Jan wasn’t the only victim of the German attacker. Lemmens told VRT that he spoke with an Englishman who had suffered a similar attack and was also prepared to press charges and possibly testify in court. The only place for the german is thai prison , and for a loooong time . Hope he rots there . 7 1 2 16

Does that give you security in your mindset that only naughty people get attacked? News flash "innocent people are attacked and murdered often". This occurs when mentally unstable people have episodes or off their meds. Steroids and testosterone meds cause very aggressive behaviour. An attack from behind with such ferocity by a man who has carried out other similar attacks yet walking free must also have money and be protected or just incompetent police. The blood of this poor man is on a lot of people's hands. 7 2 6
Popular Post GammaGlobulin Posted April 16 Popular Post Posted April 16 This is just one of many reasons why I steer clear of Farang in Thailand. One never knows what one is dealing with. Thailand, for whatever reasons, seems to attract a small but dedicated group of warped Farang, some of whom are musclebound. In the past, I have never felt threatened while living in university communities in Thailand. It is usually only the Financially-challenged Farang (not the Farang born in Thailand), and the uneducated Farang, that tend to cause more problems for social society. Just ask the off-campus university dorms, and the student guesthouse surrounding the university, who the troublemakers generally turn out to be. I know, just because I had lived in that area for several years. I moved away because I wanted to leave those Farang-types in the dust. There is also a group that I call..... The Good Farang. The Good Farangs are more educated, more interested in Thai culture, and are goal oriented with ambitions that include doing good for others. Many are researchers from western universities who arrive to engage in and continue with their research. These Good Farang, I enjoy sharing time with. The Meat-head Farang....Not so much. I try to leave the area before they arrive...because.... Sometimes, meeting up with the wrong Farang can have devastating consequences. And, I have been threatened in the past by one who, about a year later, took a swan dive off one of those Soviet-era high-rise housing estates. Good riddance, maybe.... 2 1 4
Popular Post JimHuaHin Posted April 16 Popular Post Posted April 16 Every country and probably nearly every community has its nasty and violent members, and Hua Hin's expat community is no different. Those of us who are "long-term" expat residents of Hua Hin have heard "stories", know of cases or witnessed incidents involving local expats who have been involved in "shady"/dishonest/illegal business activities and others who are prone to violence. 1 2
