For me anyway, it would be more work to learn Modern. I have put so much time into reading Traditional. I can see that if you are trying to learn to write, the Modern would be easier but I need to write so little I will stick to Traditional.

After learning the Thai alphabet there's a long way to go before you can "read Thai". This is because Thai does not really read left to right (nor right to left). It reads back and forth, back and forth ...

 

Many fonts presented as "handwriting fonts" are only typeface fonts trending towards handwriting. The only genuine handwriting font I have been able to download is the "MN Khaochae" :
