  • The amount is irrelevant - if the fare was 400 baht and 1000 baht was given over, the customer is entitled to his change! It's a scam! And the fact that the baht bus/tuk tuk driver "makes a pitta

I'd really like to hear the tourists side, before, like of you, jumping to any conclusions  we already know many tuk tuk drivers do scam tourists.

  • Obviously one more moron who doesn't believe that tuk tuk drivers have a reputation for trying to scam their customers?

what does it mean to decline the police. strange. telling at the same time

It means they don't believe what the taxi driver is saying and even with all the cameras he has no evidence, so they could only ask the foreigner in to have a chat.

Why didn't we see that video from the very start when the cash was handed over. The videos obviously been cut.

Have a few doubts about whether this is a scam gone wrong.

Ask yourself, what can the police also do..?

I would never physically attack a driver (first), but imagining this was me, I would rather accept the meeting, resolve this with a wai (and probably some money), and get on with my holiday, rather than risk jail and deportation...

That guy is very self assured, probably an Asian American, looks like Arabic or Pakistani to me.

The dispute escalated quickly as the tourist slapped and attempted to choke Abdulloh for not returning the alleged overpayment.

I've seen "tourists" killed by a machete wielding tuk-tuk driver for less.

Another hi-end tourist losing his cool over a few hundred baht,

Or another scamming Thai taking advantage of tourists?

i saw some small evidence of an assault on the video.

Nasty encounter, shouldn't happened because of a misunderstanding, yet, the physical assault was

utterly uncalled for and action should be taken against the passenger...

Surely action should be taken against both parties?

100 Thai Baht equals 2.15 Pound sterling. That's barely enough for a pack of gum in the UK?
Yeah, that's worth getting into an altercation and risking the other guy having a weapon on him or having friends nearby gang up on you.

So you believe the driver stole from him?

I guess the farang didn’t know you discuss how much with the driver before getting in.

From the video, the driver is claiming the Brit gave him less money than he did and has stolen his change.

I did not know that you could "decline a police meeting." Interesting.

Probably not enough evidence for an arrest and they can only ask the foreinger to come in and give his side of things.

Another 2 week Millionaire PUNK throwing his weight about.

Maybe he had given the driver more, but there are civilised means to fix these issues.

Vanker.

But the thief was civilised?

Summoned to the police station for an assault 😂 Press charges, have police go to his hotel and arrest him. Video is irrefutable. Another dirt bag tourist... And the best goes on.

what did you see on the (now infamous) swiss david video?

asking for a friend.

Seemed to be 'I gave you 1000' sort of disagreement.

Which was why he was saying 'show me what I paid you with'

Seems pretty sus that the video has been edited to not show what happened before the Brit got violent and he refuses to show the money he paid with.

Both parties seem in the wrong, at the very least.

Tourist was robbed.

Tourist was well within his rights to slap the slimy tuk tuk driver about.

None of it adds up. Edited video, claims of him giving him 100 Baht for a 400 Baht fair and the driver just accepting the 100, the police aren't willing to arrest the Brit, etc.

Seems that they're both in the wrong, although the taxi driver still has the Brit's money. 🤷‍♂️

So the police are so lazy now that they want the victim to summon his attacker?

Nah, they just know it's six of one and half a dozen of the other...

It depends how you define scam.

It's 100 baht, not 10 000 baht.

Is it fair that you were born in a western country where you can afford to fly to thailand 3 times a year and a baht bus driver makes a pittance?

Is it still a scam?

Yes. Stealing is always stealing. Whether it's a foreinger or not.

Pretty racist way of thinking.

After reporting the incident to the local police, Abdulloh and his father were instructed to summon the foreigner to the police station.

Say what, someone assaults you, then the police expect you to go visit the guy that has assaulted you !......that could escalate in more violence.

Based on what? Did you see the full video (ThaiRath32 played it in full). Brit choked the driver over a fare dispute.

fair play to him.

we brits don't mess about when it comes to money.

How can the police not just go and arrest him as it's quite clear what happened on video !

The edited video only shows half of what happened, and even that isn’t clear at all. The police likely realise that the incident is a driver stealing money and a Brit giving him a slap as a result.
