PM Plans to Upgrade and Rename Hua Hin Airport

Recommended Posts

Why on earth change the name to that tongue twister?

And what's the betting that after all the changes, people will still refer to it as Hua Hin Airport?

It's been tried before, there simply doesn't seem to be enough interest in routes to and from Hua Hin.

Otherwise the airport would be thriving, just like many others, isn't that beyond obvious?

"Petchcharat Hua Hin" - well it will become "Petchcharat Intercontinental Aerodrome" anytime soon. We have "Udon Thani International Airport" already yet the internationalism remains a pending element ... or pure megalomania.

However, I am soooo glad that the PM has no other issues on his plate so he now can focus on the tinier elements of tourism promotion. My only query is, how do the dirty farang, who cannot speak Thai, tell the cabbie to take them to Petchcharat ....... unless of course a professional phonetic English version is rendered 😉 Suvarnabhumi and Don Meuang (from formerly Muang) spring to mind 😎

Trang Airport, must be hoping that the PM visits there soon.

News reports say that the air conditioning in the departure terminal has been out of commission for 3 months.

This airport does have about 12 flights a day, to and from Don Mueang.

There was an article in western newspaper that Thailand's capital city name is the world's longest

being officially named "Krung Thep maha nakhon" (city of angels) and now this tongue twister: "Petchcharat Hua Hin"

and this is coming from a country that most of its revenues comes from foreigners...

Actually, the full Thai name of Bangkok is:

Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit

Try to remember this next time you want to impress your Thai friends.
