Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
If we ignore our American contingent for the moment, who have FATCA operating for a good number of years. Non Americans, especially Western Countries, have had no such system in place. From March 2023, Thailand has adopted CRS, which is the OECD equivalent of FATCA. And whilst the information is sketchy at best, sometimes confusing. I still hold the belief that the reporting under CRS by Financial Instutions, including tax department, will require expats in Thailand from CRS member Countries to report remittances into Thailand. The Revenue Department being the obvious choice to do this. Otherwise it makes a mockery of the core aim of CRS, which is to detect and deter, tax avoidance / evasion. I think the whole thing has been badly worded, badly implimented, and confusion still reigns supreme because it was badly worded and badly implimented. -

Transgender Woman Assaulted by Foreigner on Pattaya Beach
What nationality were the attackers? Some nationals are more homophobic than others and assaulting non heterosexuals is seen as just and good fun too. An openly gay European friend was attacked by masked Russians on Koh Phangan a few years ago and FB posts lamented that the victim survived (he spent a week in hospital and nearly lost an eye) . Thailand's acceptance of all variations of genders is a breath of fresh air compared to the current position in the US. There, attacks on non heterosexual persons is being weaponized to breed hate, fear and contempt for political ends. There is no room for casual (or any) violence in a civilized society.🙏 -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
In a first, aerial drones, launched from a Ukrainian marine one, have reportedly destroyed two Pantsir SAMS systems and an OSU anti aircraft gun near Crimea- though only video from one of the Pantsir attacks is shown. Not bad for a country with no navy - first Ukrainians forced (what's left of) the Russian Black Sea fleet out of the area, and now they're launching sea based aerial attacks on the enemy. The destruction of the Pantsir shown in the video was rather simple, with no shots or missiles fired at it, but then again, it's not as if these things were built to shoot down aerial attackers...err... Maybe they'd have had better luck if it had been a civilian airliner. -

Pattaya Police Raid Illegal Gambling Ring Near Immigration Office
Pictures from raid. In the late hours of January 6, at approximately 22:35 Pattaya’s Tourist Police and Immigration officials conducted a successful raid on an illegal gambling operation involving foreign nationals. The operation took place at a private room in Jomtien, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, located just two streets away from the local Immigration Office. The raid was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensarn, Chief of the Tourist Police Sub-division 4, Division 2, and Pol. Lt. Col. Sirachat Nutes, Deputy Chief of Pattaya Police Station. Coordinating efforts with officers from Pattaya Tourist Police, Chonburi Immigration Police, and Pattaya Police, the team acted on a tip-off from an informant. The tip revealed that foreign nationals were covertly operating a gambling den, over a seemingly legitimate beer bar. Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the upper room had been modified exclusively for playing poker. When officers stormed the premises, they found seven foreign nationals, hailing from Australia, Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom, engaged in a poker game. Five Thai nationals were also present, including a dealer, assistants, and housekeepers. Authorities confiscated poker tables, multiple decks of playing cards, and a sum of cash used in the gambling activities. A total of 12 individuals, including both Thais and foreign nationals, were detained and taken to Pattaya Police Station for further legal proceedings. All evidence was also handed over to the investigative officers to proceed in accordance with the law. The raid highlights the Pattaya authorities’ ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal activities in the region, particularly those involving foreign nationals, in order to maintain law and order. -- 2025-01-07 -

Cane Corso: The New Status Symbol in the Dog World
One could require a certain level of insurance to apply to all dogs. As well as leash laws with big fines. In many places in the USA, you can shoot dogs running loose. A dog like this, IMHO, is not a "toy". To me, its a tool that can be a toy, but its always going to be a genetic tool to accomplish an instinctive task. I think a lot of folks who own dogs like this have problems in evaluating their own penis size and I firmly believe in the adage bad owner, bad dog. Im sure there are a lot of dedicated breeders of these dogs and it would be incumbent on them to screen the buyers.
